Tried to pop in for a drink on a Wednesday in July but it was closed. Plenty of tourists around in Llangollen and other bars were doing good business. I didn't want to leave a 1* review and drag the pub down further, but it's pretty shabby, especially as no hours are shown on Google. I'd advise anyone to check opening first. Subsequently the owner has put on a smart arse review, telling me how hard he works - wonderful! He lost our business, but obviously he is entitled to open when he wants. It would nice if he at least made that clear on Google when he's open, but maybe he's working too hard to do this. By the way, there are plenty of other great pubs...
Read moreFriendly pub with a great atmosphere! Visited last night, lively atmosphere which is what we wanted and lovely bar staff. We'd ordered a takeaway to bring back to the room we rented in the Prince of Wales pub, and asked if they had any paper plates we could have. They didn't, but the lovely lady behind the bar rang her friend who was working in the Prince of Wales pub to see if they had any, and they did. When we got back to our accommodation they were waiting there for us, with cutlery and serviettes. That was so kind and we really appreciated it. Read moreLegendary old school boozer serving a wide range of ales all of which are usually very well kept!! Known for hosting live music and open mic nights on weekends. The fella who runs it Paul is friendly and chatty. Can be hit or miss with the crowd . Usually livens up after 2200 on a weekend. On the right night it’s a lot of fun or if it’s quiet you can chat at the bar and drink a nice pint. Has an open fire which adds to ambience. Pool table and pinball if no music on.
