Myself and my friend visited for the vegan event. My table was booked from 4.30-6.30pm. I was told the food could not be ordered until 5pm or after as menus giving out at 5pm for the event. Not sure why people had to order at 5pm. Anyway by the time the food came to the table it was gone 5.30pm. So it left us an hour to enjoy the food and drinks. We managed to finish the food but the next people were coming over to us for their booking at 6.30pm. We had to move off our table and carry our drinks to the top of the cafe which was packed out and so busy there was no where to sit. Which was a shame as we wanted to stay. There were no check backs on our food and we didn’t see anyone except when the food was plonked down. The manager was very nice serving us drinks at the bar and had a great personality an asset to the business.Great atmosphere but all felt so rushed and way too many people in such a small place. The food was lovely but i was very sick when i returned home i’m not sure this was the food but i was unwell all night vomiting . Maybe the food was too rich . I wouldn’t return unless more time was given at the table as I don’t like being on a time clock It would of been better organised if I had been notified before that the food could not be ordered until after 5pm. I probably wouldn’t have bothered booking the table Lovely venue and great atmosphere just too busy and too rushed and nowhere to sit after we had to move off our table which...

Visited this cafe two mornings in a row (Saturday and Sunday) and the breakfast was amazing both days .

Service from Henri and Phoebe was great . All other staff were amazing but didn’t catch the name of them all ⭐️.

Saturday I Opted for a full English breakfast I got a kids portion and added on extra bacon rashers . I felt that was more than enough as I just about finished it 🤣. I got a red velvet cake slice aswell which was great . One pet peeve would be that when I asked to take the cake away , instead of it being in a container of some sort or wrapped , it was just placed in the paper carrier bag 😬. Would advise to get take away stuff for cakes.

Sunday , I tried a new breakfast, the cinnamon spiced toast. It was 10/10. I felt there was too many sultanas/ raisins though . I personally don’t like them but I just avoided them throughout the dish . Chantily Cream x French toast combo is amazing . When I next visit south wales I will return to this Cafe again .

Ambience was great and interior aesthetic is lovely...

Having read the reviews of this place, I was super eager to drop by and have brunch this morning Sept 10, 2025.

I was in town for a couple of days and had read good things online. I checked the webpage and the Instagram page to locate an address and to check for any concerns.

I noted the website indicated reservations were not required for the morning and that free parking could be obtained near the railway station. I was delighted as I got one of the last parking spots at 10 AM this morning.

To my amazement when I arrived at the restaurant there was a contractor working away inside and the restaurant was not open for business. Very disappointing that there was no update on the website or the Instagram page.

Whilst the food may be fantastic - I can’t comment on that . Whoever is running the marketing side of things certainly dropped the ball by not informing potential customers of the...

I absolutely love The Thirsty Elephant in Pontyclun – it’s become one of my favourite spots! The atmosphere is so cosy and inviting, with perfect lighting that makes it feel warm and relaxed. Such good vibes for a lovely brunch or a catch up with friends. The food is consistently delicious – really well made, beautifully presented, and you can tell there’s real care that goes into it. The coffee is honestly the best I’ve had. Just spot on every time. The staff are amazing – so helpful and genuinely friendly. Both times I’ve visited, the lovely lady at the till has complimented me, which honestly just made my day. I’m sorry i didn’t catch your name! I’ve only been twice, and i live 25 minutes away but will definitely only continue to come here for breakfast/brunch/lunch from now on! Can’t recommend it enough! Thanks guys x

Welcoming, easy -going atmosphere. Spacious and cosy all at once. Delicious vegan gf brekkie for us (having gf vegan sausages available would make this five star an A star!) Proper homemade beans in tomato sauce, delicious ripe avocado, perfect mushrooms, astounding shredded leeks, and loads more yumminess. Our coffee was *chef's kiss* The best coffee I've had since one I had in a coffee shop in Ericeira. Proper barista coffee and a delicious roast. We were just passing through the area and found the Thirsty Elephant on Happy Cow. We now wish we lived locally so we could come here as our local! Highly recommend for good food, good coffee, and friendly yet unintrusive environment. We'll be back!
