Y Pentan — Restaurant in Wales

Friday teatime. Hard to find a seat. Lively and happy with a range of ages enjoying the good atmosphere….it’s almost how things used to be. The staff are courteous and friendly whilst managing a very busy session. This pub is old skool, no food so wet sales all important. I’m not disappointed, the otter ale (only other place I have seen this is in the Knowle Inn, somerset) is unbelievable. Judging by the chatter and noise everyone else is enjoying theirs too! Then, ‘dub be good’ to me by beats international comes over the music system, heads are nodding and feet tapping despite the other major topic of conversation being Putin and Ukraine. I am reminded what a great country (Wales) we live in. Go Pentan! Ps…..ssshhhhhh……it’s really good value for money, better than wetherspons...

This was an impromptu visit due to weather. I had not been in this pub for a few years due to closure. First impression!? Firstly a very warm and friendly welcome from 'Mine Host' who described the beers available with enthusiasm. Secondly a very pleasant revamp of the interior. Can't fault this establishment. Had to pass some time in mold and decided to spend an hour here while I waited. Bar staff were very quick at serving even though it was a busy Saturday night! Seemed abit skeptical when I first ordered but 3 drinks later staff seemed more chatty and friendly. Very good vibes, several TVs, plenty of seating. For a first time visit they definitely exceeded expectations. I'll definitely visit...
