Y Stablau Restaurant and Stables Bar in Betws-y-Coed sounds like a fantastic spot, especially after a day of exploring Snowdonia! Y Stablau: A Perfect Welsh Retreat for Food and Drink Nestled in the heart of Betws-y-Coed, Y Stablau, with its inviting restaurant and vibrant Stables Bar, offers the quintessential Welsh hospitality experience. It strikes a wonderful balance between a lively atmosphere and a commitment to quality food, making it an ideal stop for anyone visiting this beautiful corner of Snowdonia. The Stables Bar immediately draws you in with its warm and welcoming atmosphere. It's clearly a popular hub, bustling with locals and visitors alike, creating a great buzz without being overwhelmingly loud. The decor, hinting at its stable origins, feels authentic and cosy, providing the perfect backdrop for a relaxed drink. The selection of local ales and gins is a definite highlight, showcasing the best of North Wales' burgeoning craft scene. Whether you're unwinding after a long hike or just popping in for a pre-dinner drink, the bar offers a fantastic range and a friendly, efficient service. We particularly enjoyed a crisp local lager," the Y Stablau Restaurant, the focus on fresh, locally sourced produce truly shines through. The menu offers a satisfying array of classic pub favourites and more adventurous dishes, all designed to replenish and delight. Our "the Welsh Beef Lasagne was hearty and flavourful," "the fish and chips were perfectly crispy and fresh," "the Y Stablau Steak & Ale Pie was a true comfort food masterpiece"]. Portions are generous, reflecting the need for good fuel after a day in the mountains, and the quality of ingredients is evident in every bite. Beyond the food and drink, Y Stablau often hosts live music and events, which adds another layer to its appeal, transforming it into more than just a place to eat – it's a place to socialise and enjoy. The outdoor seating area, especially on warm weather, evening"], looked incredibly inviting, providing a lovely spot for al fresco dining and people-watching. For anyone seeking a hearty meal, a refreshing pint, and a genuinely welcoming Welsh atmosphere in Betws-y-Coed, Y Stablau is an absolute must-visit. It's the perfect blend of a traditional inn with a modern, quality-driven approach. I ordered the ceaser salad , was ok , the service took ages to arrive but it was extremely busy , the servers were...

We always visit The Stables when we come to Betws-y-Coed. The food is generic pub grub but there is plenty of choice and portions are decent. We love the covered outside area with the patio heaters. However, as is the norm these days, the place is dog friendly and it often turns into absolute chaos at busy periods with dogs barking and yapping at each other while their owners appear oblivious to the fact that their furry friend is driving other customers mad. At our most recent visit it was more like being in a dog kennels with all the barking! Also, the pub's website states that paws must remain on the floor at all times. This rule is blatantly ignored by many dog owners. We even witnessed one couple allowing their dog onto the table! Staff appear to turn a blind eye. This is disgusting. People shouldn't have to sit on seats that have previously been trampled on by muddy paws. Not impressed. Edited to add: Return visit a few days later. This time sat inside as it was pouring down. The place unfortunately had an underlying odour of wet dog! Also, as we were leaving we were horrified to see a couple with their three soggy dogs sat between them on the seats while feeding them from their plates! This was directly opposite the bar, and once again the staff took no notice. Clearly, dog owners are allowed to do whatever they like here with no regard for other customers. I shouldn't have to sit on seats covered in dog hair and mucky paw prints and at a table that has been slobbered all over. We will not be returning. Shame, because we...

Outstanding Food, Generous Portions, and Great Value!

We had the pleasure of dining at Y Stabl in the heart of Snowdonia, and it was a truly memorable experience. The food was simply outstanding! We ordered ribs and two jacket potatoes with tuna, and the portions were extremely generous. The ribs were exceptional—tender, juicy, and falling off the bone, with a depth of flavor that made every bite a delight. The jacket potatoes were equally delicious and satisfying.

What really stood out, aside from the quality of the food, was the fantastic value for money. For a meal for three people, including two Cokes, we paid just £50. The jacket potatoes were only £8–£8.50 each, which is incredible considering the portion size and quality.

The restaurant is part of a charming hotel, making it the perfect spot for both visitors and locals alike. We highly recommend Y Stabl to anyone in the Snowdonia area. Whether you’re after a hearty meal or a cozy dining experience, you won’t be disappointed. We’ll definitely be returning!

Betws Y Coed is a beautiful place as I'm sure anyone would agree. After an afternoon at the nearby Zip world, one of the staff recommended we try The Stables for dinner! Glad we followed his advice!! Plenty of outdoor seating for food or just for a few drinks. Able to order at the bar or through the QR code on each table (as we did). Opted for the spicy burger, with a side of special loaded fries. Mrs went with the mild option chicken curry. Both really enjoyed the food. Very reasonably priced. Service was really efficient. Plenty of staff around. Polished it off with the Belgian waffle myself and boss lady chose the cheesecake. Both very tasty and beautifully presented also. The place had a lovely atmosphere, was very busy but still plenty of seating to be had (which is always appealing, there's a reason places are busy/lively!). Only drawback, if you sit outside, be prepared to deal with a few wasps (which in all honesty could probably be said for anywhere this time of year).
