Reviewing for hotel stay - NOT the restaurant (which smelled delicious, by the way)||||Checked in here with my young family for a two-night stay in Cardiff. It was one of the cheapest stays on the booking site we used, but the pictures looked ok so we took the chance.||||After driving around for a while to find parking, we went to the restaurant and were greeted by a freindly waitress who summoned her boss. Keys were handed over and we were walked out of the restaurant, through the side door (past the kitchen and, presumably, the owner's residence) up a narrow staircase to our room.||||Outside the room is a small kitchen area with sink, microwave and kettle, with a selection of plates, cutlery, cups and plenty of hot drinks available. This was handy but and odd compromise it seemed. A nice touch, if a little amateur feeling. I actually liked it as a budget option, my wife, who prefers something a little more elegant, wasn't keen.||||The room itself was huge for the price. A pair of double beds, a small table with chairs, a coupel of big comfy chairs and a large bathroom. Saldy, it all felt a little like an old-fashione guest house which was till being worked on. Again, I quite liked it, especially for the price we paid, but if you are used to the standards of the chain hotels or the more gentrified guest houses, this might not be to your satisfaction.||||Anyway, the boys loved it, there was plenty of space to play and lots of nooks and crannies. The mattresses were soft (in fact a little too soft for one of us, who woke up feeling very uncomfortable the first morning) and the room just the right temperture even through the changeable weather outside.||||Noise from the street permeated until late night, but the location meant that grabbing food and drinks was remarkably easy (we were tempted to eat at the restaurant but it was closed when we planned to eat, so went elsewhere).||||Despite my wife's misgivigns, we did have a decent stay here but I'd be hesitant to rate the hotel facilities any higher as they don't match up to the standards of other places. However, if you're travelling on a budget and are happy to get away from cookie-cutter modern hotels, then this will probably be a more than acceptable...

Read moreVisited Yangs this evening and was extremely disappointed. The restaurant was freezing cold with absolutely no heating on whatsoever. A number of diners were eating their food with their coats on.
When I asked for the heating to be turned on, they obliged but it took 3 people over 25 minutes to master the controls of the air conditioning.
Our order was taken and the wrong starters were delivered. When the correct starters were delivered they were on stone cold plates.
Further new diners were seated and also complained how cold it was in the restaurant.
I asked for my main main course to be extra hot and spicy and didn't even get a slither of chilli in it.
The whole meal was eaten with our coats on but towards the end the staff had figured out how to use the air conditioner and it started warning up.
To top things off we were presented with the bill and told the card machine wasn't working and that we'd have to pay with cash. This wasn't at all mentioned at all before ordering our meals.
The whole experience was truly sub standard; it really felt as though no one had a clue what was happening there.
Very very...
