Having come here and had a wonderful experience each time with my parents, I was really looking forward to coming with my partner. We made an online booking and awaited the occasion.
However, the difference between when I've frequented this establishment accompanied by my parents, versus coming as a couple with my partner, was night and day. It was clear we were not the clientele they were hoping for that evening.
As two young professionals in our early twenties, we do occasionally get treated as though our money isn't good enough at the odd place. And we might get treated curtly by staff. And it was a shame to experience the same here.
Ignored by staff when we walked in, left standing by the bar for far too long. Other guests were seated virtually instatenously. When finally approached by a member of the team, we were told straight away we were mistaken and did not have a booking with them, before she had even checked their system. My partner insisted we had a booking and pulled up the confirmation messages, only to then be told we were still mistaken and had got the day of our booking wrong. It was Friday eve and we had indeed booked for Friday eve. We were told "nope, your booking is for Friday." I was fairly struck that we were being told it wasn't Friday... on a Friday. All very baffling.
Having anticipated buying a couple of courses and a few glasses of wine each, we ended up leaving fairly quickly as the whole interaction left a sour taste in my mouth.
Living quite close-by we were hoping to find a regular wine haunt to enjoy on our weekend evenings, but if our money isn't good enough for this bar we will simply go elsewhere. A big shame because other than the service, the wine was utterly delicious and the food well-priced and...
Read moreWalk past this spot on my way home from work and finally stopped in last weekend for the first time on a Sunday. The atmosphere is lovely with welcoming staff, comfortable seats and lovely soft lighting. Even though the restaurant was fairly busy, it never felt too loud.
We had really lovely wine and some cocktails, very knowledgable waiter who knew their menu very well and gave great recommendations. The food was unique and interesting and as a vegetarian/pescatarian couple we still felt we had lots of interesting choices. Menu seemed well thought out and didn't have boring usual veggie choices. Our favourite by far was the lovely swiss chard stew followed by the croquettas.
We popped in a couple of times since, for a quick drink and cheese board which was also very nice sat on the window sill bar whilst chatting away. Hoping to pop in the day to have a coffee as it looks like a great place to get a bit...
Read moreTapas but not your generic tapas. Grace and Vine offer interesting dishes with tonnes of flavour. There are plenty of places in Leamington calling themselves tapas restaurants but they all fall into the same trap - predictable menus where everything is deep fried without any finesse. Grace and Vine have a menu full of delicious, fresh tasting dishes and each one is executed to perfection. We came as a group of 5 late Saturday afternoon. We settled on ordering 10+ dishes between us. One of us was a veggie and it was great to see the number of vegetarian friendly items on offer. Every dish that came out was beautifully presented with tasty garnishes and sauces. I really enjoyed the polenta chips, frittata and croquetas. We topped it all off with some classy espresso martinis. The staff are knowledgeable and attentive and the decor and general atmosphere make this place...
