Oscars French Steakhouse and Bistro — Restaurant in Warwick

Looking at other reviews before posting, my partner and friends must have caught this place on an off day.

The good bits: great decor and atmosphere

The rest: My partner and friends were seated 15 minutes late to their table. Only a minor thing of course, but since they were pushed into leaving by staff turning off music and lights, it was clearly a bit of an issue.

The order was for two rib eye, one fillet and muscles. They got one rib eye and two fillets. To save waste my partner agreed to have the fillet but they were surprised to see that she was charged for it.

The steaks were all under what was requested with one of the group leaving all but a bit of the steak. This wasn't questioned by staff and there was no check with the table or opportunity to bring this to staff attention. When deserts arrived for the table, it was announced with "who had what". No one minds helping staff out with an order but it would have been nice to name the deserts so that the group had a chance to help.

As mentioned, given other reviews this may have just been an off day but it wasn't up to the...

OK food, shame about the service.

When we arrived for steak night, the soup starter was rushed to us so quickly that my wife had only just gone to the bathroom after ordering on arrival.

We then asked if we could say how we wanted our steaks done, and was told 'yes, if we want to express a preference' (shouldn't we have been asked anyway?). We asked for our 2 steaks to be done medium and rare, but they both arrived looking medium (despite being presented as different), and my wife and I actually swapped plates.

The steak itself was quite tough, a mediocre sirloin I think, cut to look rather like fillet.

We then had to wait and wait for the main course & desert plates to be cleared, competing with the dishwasher (located WITHIN the dining area) for attention, surrounded by 3 staff drying and clattering cutlery away and avoiding eye contact.

We understand that staff would want to clear up and go home, but so did we, and wouldn't have still been there if plates had been cleared in timely order.

The food was OK, not special, but we did not enjoy...

What a disappointment, was so looking forward to celebrating my partner’s Birthday at Oscars with our friends. We opted for the set menu that consisted of a starter, main and desert, the main was Beef Stroganoff, the portions were so tiny and consisted of three small pieces of meat and a blob of mash potato, the desert was boxed up because we had a birthday cake but we all opened our boxes to find the smallest piece of cheesecake that was about two mouthfuls. We were ignored, never once asked us if we wanted another drink or offered coffee at the end of our meal, which by way we ate in 2 minutes. Staff rushing past us but not stopping to see if we were alright or needed anything….all in all such a disappointing experience, I have never left a Restaurant feeling hungry before, so needless to say we will not be returning.
