Coffee#1 Godalming — Restaurant in Waverley

I witnessed an awful incident this morning in the Godalming #1 coffe shop, the manager of the store LUCAS who was infact very rude to this young lady who was just very upset on how he said for her to stop and quite down her child, Saying that it is his shop and that if she didn’t like it to find another coffee shop elsewhere. her son he looked very scared! Then the manager Lucas he continued to be abusive to her plus joining in with a vicious and vile customer who totally starting swearing the odds around the vicinity with children present! as this manager starting laughing with another member of staff who in fact was wearing glasses, then one other person who I gather was a friend in the que also joined in and this poor young woman was being bullied and absolutely belittled in front of the whole shop plus her child started to cry and she also was drawn to tears! Which was very sad to see! I was disgusted as that could have been my very own child!. No one should be treated that way. I am disgusted beyond words! #1 I suggest you send someone in to your Godalming branch to discipline this unprofessional individual or give thorough training on how to behave and work around people! The cake was not just dry but stale. I could tap it against my plate and audibly hear a tapping sound. When I went back to ask to swap it, the staff behind the counter acknowledged that "cakes can get dry because we don't have a dome to cover them" (OK, so it's a known issue they haven't addressed). They offered to microwave it. I declined - it was way beyond saving, and also, no, that's not really a reasonable solution?! They (reluctantly) offered to swap it for another cake after I requested it. The other staff member asked whether staff member no 1 had offered to microwave it (clearly their usual policy), so maybe staff member no 1 was new? Who knows. A bit worrying. The replacement cake was a bit dry, but an improvement on the original cake, which I could possibly have used as a brick and/or weapon. The coffee was average, but nothing to get excited about. Overall, it was a mediocre experience. I have had better café experiences. I have probably had worse, but they haven't cost this much because, Godalming. I will not...

First time in on Sat 7th Sept. 3 Stars for premises & delicious coffee. Unfortunately there were insufficient staff members & in the hour & a half that we visited no tables were cleared until we were about to leave. Customers were clearing their own tables to sit down and piling dirty cups and plates all on one table. Also the cups & saucers we drank out of did not look like they had been through a dishwasher as oily and smeared. Such a shame as one member of staff that was making the coffees was asking for help from the two other young ladies that were chatting to each other and not responding, I did feel for her. It's a really good space but the staff need training and a good manager...
