GAIL's Bakery — Restaurant in Waverley

As often as I can I go to this branch to have my single espresso to wind down after work, all members of staff work very hard to give the best possible service to the customers (even to some grumpy ones). After struggling to explain to many other Cafe's maestro baristas Chris and Aidan took their time and effort to produce a coffee that I was yearning for for years, a classic Italian Marrocchino espresso (popular in the north of Italy) not only they are excellent baristas (maestro) but also they have the flair and banter that makes you feel that you are some where in Italy ready to enjoy your coffee , well done guys ! (* note to Head Office - keep these guys as long as possible)

So, for the last couple of years, I've become quite a regular customer of this branch, not only because of the coffee, delicious pastry, and bread, but also the great atmosphere that Ivana, Katy, Jack and the rest of the team manage to create for the benefit of all visiting the shop. The vegan options here are abysmal, a huge array of pastries, cakes, sandwiches, not one is plant based. The only option was a salad.

Given so much science is calling for a shift towards plant based food to reduce our carbon emissions and slow down the effects of climate change, (with animal agriculture being the second biggest cause of climate change after fossil fuels) not to mention how badly animals suffer for us to have cakes and sandwiches when great plant based alternatives are available, I would love to see Gail's better catering for those of us trying to do the right thing. Please add more plant based options to your menu. At least 2 or 3 options amongst the 30+ items isn't too...

No stars!! Had the worst experience ever here. Found a giant bug/moth in my food!! Instead of picking of a sun dried tomato from my sandwich, I picked out a giant moth!!! Only realised after eating part of the sandwich! I am shocked and horrified and would never recommend going there as you can not trust their preparation or storage. Also the initial reaction from the staff was to only refund the one sandwich, not even the whole meal. Why would I eat anything there after finding a massive moth in my food? No manager or supervisior came over to see the issue either. Absolutely horrible. Nearly wanted to tell everyone in the cafe to stop eating their food. It was rank. Worse experience...
