A unique local café, with an emphasis on quality sourcing.

Their coffee is good quality, but not for everyone. It's very acidic in profile and would probably be better as an espresso or Americano than in italian-milk coffees as I think the acidity doesn't pair well. Our food was tasty, the tomatoes and mushrooms in my fry up are well sourced and they had a great full flavour. As with other reviews on here the gluten free sourdough is about as good as gf can be as the lack of gluten will always give it a crunchier profile. I didn't mind it however they just need to give you a proper knife as the knives they have aren't up for the job. They have some unique offerings on their menu, which is a plus for those tired of same same cafe food. Staff are friendly and polite, but service is a bit sluggish. Atmosphere is DIY and hipstery, interior is pleasant, exterior tables need to be resanded. This is a good cafe, i'll be back and would bring friends here quite happily. The food tasted nice, and ordinarily I wouldn’t have had any issues with it. However, their website claims that they are a “clean eating” cafe and specifically says “ always guarantee that our menu items do not include processed sugars, gluten or additives & preservative”. Because of this statement I was just surprised that the white bread that was served looked and tasted highly processed. Again, if I hadn’t seen the claims I wouldn’t have questioned.
It is also not very child friendly/ no changing facilities or kids menu. This might be their choice/ they may not want children in there…. But it made for a very expensive brunch for 2 adults and 2 children (£55 in total….£6.50 for a simple round of toast for our youngest…. We live in London but we still thought...
Read moreI've been going to Roost in Godalming for over a year now with my adult son with learning disabilities and my very large Great Dane ! What can I say?? Of course the coffee and food are top notch ( the waffles are to die for) the menu is varied, food always delicious, the coffee hits the spot every time ,but in a town full to the brim of coffee shops what makes this one stand out?? .... The staff ! In particular lovely Tom who always welcomes us like old friends, remembers our names and our coffee order, makes a huge fuss of the dog ( who loves him) Tom treats my son with kindness , respect and encouragement, so much so that now he will go to the counter to order our food. The atmosphere in Roost is always happy, friendly and welcoming ,all the staff are cheerful, service is quick and efficient and as a bonus they offer blue light discount! I would and do recommend it to everyone. Our visits make a Saturday extra special 🥰 keep up the good work and Tom, you can...
