By far, the worst fish & chips I ever had!! Stay clear! Tempted by the reviews we have ordered 2 x large cod and chips, it took some time to prepare so assumed it is nice and fresh. Couldn't be more wrong. The cod was absolutely bone dry, attached to the thick layer or burned, dark brown batter. There was barely any meat there, no flakiness, and so dry I could not scrape the fish of the batter. It must have been frozen and deep fried. Absolutely disgusting. I do regret not speaking to the staff and asking for a refund, but I never complain, just tend to not go back. This, on the other hand, was inedible and a total waste of £30. I could not stop thinking about how bad it was, so here I am. Honestly, I mean, noone who ever had a portion of fish and chips in their life would think this is ok to serve/eat. Do people who run the business not know what they sell? You can get a much tastier battered fish from a supermarket, and certainly not burned. So so so bad! Stay clear! But don't give up hope, you can still find a quality F&C in Whitby(Trenchers) or somewhere closer, in Cobham...
Read moreI ordered a small portion chips and one small sausage. I waited over 20 mins for this meal. When it was ready the boy behind the counter started packing it in the polystyrene containers, so I said could I have it open please if its not too much trouble. After much fumbling around he handed me over what just about filled the bottom layer of the bag..I thought I had ordered a childs portion!! I was in disbelief and just took the bag and walked out. The previous lady to me ordered small chips and her bag was brimming to the top..she even said that was enough. I can only assume that because I had inconvenienced him that he removed more chips from my bag. Dishonest & deceit. You should still get what you pay for and you should feel full. I will.not go back and I urge others to do the same. Disgusting customer...
Read moreWhat a wonderful find this was in the centre of Farnham! I'd been searching for somewhere to eat in Farnham, then stumbled across this place, so thought I'd give it a go. So you walk through the takeaway area in the front to a nice dining area at the back. Here I was met by some lovely staff, who looked after me well. A nice touch is that a small plate of bread and tartar sauce is brought to the table - extras that you would pay for elsewhere. I ordered plaice, chips and peas, which were simply amazing. The batter was light and golden and the chips were cooked to perfection. The best fish & chips I had tasted for many a while. So an unexpected find for me, but just amazing. I just wish it was nearer to where I lived! Think they need to rename the place Gold...
