The Heathfield Tavern — Restaurant in Wealden

December 2023 Foresters Christmas lunch. 13 of us altogether. Warm welcome, swift service, all three courses were served individually on time, so we all ate together. All of us enjoyed our dishes, my goats cheese and beetroot tart was so tasty and the pastry was lovely. Sea bass, really lovely, plum and ginger pudding with custard was a pleasant change and really nice. I would highly recommend Christmas lunch here and as per my previous reviews, eat here for any occasion. Superb. Thank you to the whole Tavern team 👍.

October 2023. Visited again with my friend from when our children were toddlers, she had travelled quite a distance so it was so good to have a warm welcome and the most delicious fish and chips! I have had to edit this old review as it seems I can't write a new one.. I visited here again tonight, Saturday is 21st August 2021 after two years, due to lockdown. There were 13 of us, all (well behaved!) ladies from regular fitness classes. The food was excellent, the service, friendly and efficient, the staff went out of their way, even moving tables soon after we all arrived, so we could all be together. Well where do I start with the tavern team....I've worked in Customer Relation for 20yrs plus and I've part run my own business so I know service and have witnessed so service that has made me cringe.

The team at the tavern made me so welcome it's become my go to place to relax and reflect on some tough days for me personally.

The manager hires individuals and allows them to shine and be themselves. Nothing was too much trouble, Harry helped me with some tech issues I had, all were chatty and helpful. I met some truly lovely youngsters who helped me relate to why my 13yrs old was being such a teenager at the moment.

Times have been so tough for this industry, they have lost alot of money snd trade because of this virus.

So now the virus is going to be the normal let's get out if we can and support our local.

Food was good, hospitality 5 stars, range of drinks interesting.....and they laughed at my jokes mostly about Karen's cause I'm a Karen apparently (sorry to all the Karen's I think you rock keep complaining but only if its genuine. Just need Rag and Bone man to play there then it would be 50 stars.....Harry and the stereo King's are playing on the 2nd April so that should be a...

Such a shame came here today with my family for some lunch called ahead to book and was told to just come along.

When we arrived we were greeted by two young ladies stressed but polite enough, when we asked for the menus they told us the kitchen was closed we explained we called ahead and was told there would be a slight wait.

It all went down hill from here 3 sandwiches and a fish and chips took over a hour to arrive loverly I must say but the wait time was unacceptable a slight wait is not over a hour, especially when we were the only customers in the garden and a hand full of people inside.

The reason for the 2 star was the children's meals we ordered two children's scampi it came out still raw they were Apologised and replaced them but again we had to wait some time, we were also charged £1.70 for a fruit shoot which clearly came from bookers as they had 69p written on them.

Such a shame beautiful pub would visit for a drink but...
