Went for a coffee with a friend, we both had a Latte's, my friend ordered a Minced Pie & I had the Lemon Tartlet. The Mince Pie was fine but the Lemon Tartlet was completely inedible due to the excessively high sugar content! I'm a big overweight chap who likes his food & having returned from touring France & Spain for 3 months, your Tartlet looked very similar to something sold in France & made with Sicilian Lemons. It tasted very 'lemony' in fact perfect however, the sugar level was so high both myself & my friend were unable to eat it! Never have I turned down an item for being too sweet but this could be medically dangerous to any diabetic. A waiter asked if everything was OK & I explained that I could not eat the Lemon Tart, he apologised took it away but did not refund my money or offer alternative, he just took the Tartlet away & I said I hope that you are going to refund me, no reply came back! This is completely unacceptable food & also unacceptable customer service as the goods were inedible & below an acceptable standard. As an ex Service Manager myself I feel the standard of service & food was well below acceptable standards & some form of notice on the high sugar levels should have made it clear to me what I was buying. Having stood at the till awaiting my order we were off-handedly "told to stand over there" while we waited for our Luke warm coffees & Tartlets, not very customer friendly as they were not even busy. Over £12 for a very unsatisfactory purchase along with poor customer service & sub standard food. A sad reflection of poor quality food along with poor service & a management who could not care less when a...
Read moreSome background a la Costa (my interpretation of their words). "As of a few years ago 'flat white' coffee was not available in the UK". Well, their right, flat white coffee was invented in Australia. If you order a fault white ANYWHERE in Australia you get a cup of white coffee WITH NO FOAM. Here you get "a layer of microfoam'. That I Not Flat White - Costa. It's your version of a classic coffee drink. Okay, I hear you all say "Well, ask for what you want". I do and so do the people with me. We even explain EXACTLY how we want it - 'flat white coffee please. No foam at all' and the universal Costa coffee maker at the preset machine replies "That's not how I make it". But that's how I want it, I say. Their eyes roll in their heads, the exchange the 'another one of those customers' looks with colleagues and a sullen production of my/our coffee(s). It seems the customer can no longer have their coffee as we think we are going to get it and instead we have to take it as Costa has...
Read moreThe young asian muscle boy behind the till, serve me and made my coffee with the USED coffee dripping all over the side CUP, that I saw him and his colleague using to catch the coffee, to pour into other customers cup, he use that same cup pour milk in and gave me that cup with coffee dripping on the side, cup was used how many time I don't know, cup was crushed and all sorts, looks like I was given a second hand cup,
Am like, why did you treat me differently? Why didn't you get me a new cup? I had to ask for an new cup, I pour the coffee from the old crusty cup into the new cup, I was way to tired to make a scene or say anything more to him,
