Did a little bit of last minute shopping in Ormskirk this morning, and remembered that one of my favourite little eateries had a very decent breakfast as an alternative to my regular Eggs Benedict. So I called in to see Sam and Tom, and then found a very cozy corner to while away an hour or so in. The nice thing about Bramleys is the way the staff treat you like a genuinely welcome customer, and I had the very good fortune to have the lovely Rose come sit with me for a few minutes to run through the menu and show me the Gluten Free and Vegan Options. Which is a very rare treat. A) because Rose is very beautiful and B) because other places don't usually have a gluten free menu. Or vegan options. So I opted for the gluten free toast, which was terrific. Mine always comes out like cardboard, but theirs was as fresh and delightful as normal toast. But again, there was no rush, no clock watching, no pressure to clear away and move you along. And it's nice to be treated like a valued guest where the excellent staff make you feel welcome and appreciated. So my five star award for the best mega breakfast in Ormskirk goes to Bramleys (and it was so good I forgot to get my selfie with a full plate, so here's an AFTER pic once I'd demolished the best breakfast of Christmas week 2023) Thanks Rose (I hope I didn't embarrass you "finding" that pound coin in your ear, but grandads will be grandads, and you did make me feel awfully special). Thank you. FIVE STARS (PLUS)...

My Nannie took me here for a light lunch, and I was impressed with the flavours with the chilli (which may be the same mix for lasagne, which is no complaint, it would do just as well for bolognese sauce) - a little more chilli and cayenne or paprika (maybe even a hint of dark chocolate/cacao, and you'll have a real winner ππ½)
One of the few places locally that really have a diverse selection for people who require gluten free, and that's covering both light, main and dessert dishes. A great ambience and warmly decorated, giving an atmosphere which both both laid back, but also nostalgic to a lively history of both music and eras gone by.
Service was great, especially with how busy it was for a Monday afternoon, and the volume of clientele and energy of the happy customers spoke for the hard work that the staff and management have put in to making this...
Β Β Β Read moreCame here for friends birthday. I emailed to reserve a table and said it was for Alice's birthday. When I've organised afternoon teas for special occasions in the past at other places, the venue has either put a special message up or written happy birthday in chocolate on the plate (1 place put a balloon at the table ) But nothing of the such was done here. Staff weren't aware of us coming and no table had been reserved, so it didn't feel particularly special. I shouldn't of bothered emailing venue ahead of booking, as it made no difference. Food was ok, but you only get 1 cup of coffee (most afternoon teas I've had have offered free refills of tea & coffee.) Cake selection was disappointing. I've had a lot of afternoon teas in my time but this wasn't a particularly amazing one sadly. Sandwhich was nice, but I personally wouldn't choose to go back here in a hurry π (Picture shows...
