A horrid experience. One table was free, in a dangerous position close to the cars. I feared my own life for having cars driving so close to the table.
The driver in the first picture drove very close to our table towards us before parking there 5-10 minutes and playing his music loud. Some other clients enjoyed the music. I was not the the mood.
When he stopped the music I went to approach him. My concern was that I was already in a vulnerable spot. Before condemning why we sat there, it could had been anyone, and it could be you there one day, being hungry and choosing any spot.
I approached him to tell him that I sit at that table and he creates a hazard and I don’t feel ok about it, that he could park somewhere else to pick the client. He started swearing and being dismissive of any of my remarks. I asked him how he feel about reporting him to the police, leaving 1-star to the restaurant and taking to the West Oxfordshire council. He said he doesn’t care.
What is Bitter & Twisted doing wrong: don’t put tables so close to the road, or ask to install something to protect your clients from being killed by cars don’t allow anyone to park in front of your shop, it’s a disgusting thing to be so close to the cars already, smelling the fumes and having another car parked in front of the car paying music, I know that you can’t check on the drivers, but swearing at your clients it’s not acceptable
Your staff: was oblivious about the parking was oblivious about my chat with the driver, no one came to check the interaction no one came to check if our table is ok prices are high, £15 for a small pizza, a £50 bill for 3 people for 2 pizzas, a salad and 3 drinks feels like overpriced, considering...
Read moreBy far the best food I've had in a very long while! Well done to the chef! We booked for 7pm on Saturday and I'm glad we did as many were turned away. We were shown to our table and given the cocktail and food menu. Staff were all polite and attentive. We had 4 cocktails in total and all were fabulous. The starter was, in my opinion, one of the tastiest I've ever had. I chose smoked cheddar mac and cheese bites with a barbecue dip and they were delicious! My daughter had doughballs which were equally tasty. I then had the smoked salmon, lemon and spinach risotto and my daughter had the salmon and chorizo with mashed potato and peas. Both were extremely good. Finally my daughter had the sticky toffee pudding which she said was one of the best and was eaten all too quickly and we forgot to take the photo! Our bill was a little high but not unexpected. I wouldn't be eating out and spending this much on a regular basis but we were having a mother and daughter weekend away and it was well worth it. I cannot fault the service or the food and would certainly eat here again. I thoroughly recommend Bitter & Twisted! Well...
Read moreA different type of pub, trying its best to be something different focusing on drinks promotions, shots, cocktails to bring in the crowds.
The menu, too much, was given 3 or 4 different menus which was overload, keep it simple to 1 main menu and specials, try not to overdo things.
I ordered the festive turkey pie, a little steep in price but was feeling like a pie day at 22 quid.
Service was very slow with few punters, which wasn't expected. Food finally was dropped off at the table and my initial visualisation of the meal was dry, little effort which already put a damper on my pie day.
The pie was dense, good sign but dry af The gravy helped a bit especially another serving of gravy. The mash was heavily dense and needed a knive to cut it.
Seriously hard to find anywhere now that can cook basic food without the french cuisine overdoing..
Recommendation
Strip back to basics, dont over complicate things Customers want good home cooked food, a simple menu, and hey presto you might be onto something better than the other pubs in the village.
