This pub continues to be a real gem and we are grateful to have it in our locality. We live in a nearby next village, which has no pub or shop sowe very much value having this pub a short bus ride away. The menu has recently been updated and provides plenty of choice for all tastes. We had two small plates, the lamb koftas and crispy beef, to start and both were delicious. The portions are a good size and dishes nicely presented. Our mains were fish and chips and the bean burger. Both excellent. There were plenty of other options we fancied, not least the confit duck leg, so we will be back soon to try some more! The prices represent good value for money which is an important factor for us. The service here is always friendly, welcoming and efficient. Being a CAMRA Membership I will also mention the cask ales. Well kept and a good variety. Last night there was a local stout by XT brewery, another local brew, Gunners Gold by Loose Cannon and also Timothy Taylor's Landlord. I opted for the Gunners Gold which was beautifully clear, bright and very moreish!! There is also a very good variety of lagers and gins. Thanks very much to all the team for a super...
Read more5 stars for renovation of the pub and subsequently revival of a visible sense of community in the area. This pub was grim but it's transformed into a seemingly trendy space that's very unlike Eynsham which is good! The person at the bar seemed really quirky and interesting, service was good, decor and facilities also good. The menu is expensive, I wouldn't come in for a casual lunch but maybe for a occasion which makes me a bit sad as it'd be lovely if there was an affordable lunch menu followed by evening expensive meal. The lack of veggie options was very surprising, always a bit saddened when it looks like an afterthought. I like what this place is doing and I hope it becomes more accessible to a range of people rather than one specific demographic which at the moment it seems stuck to. It feels a bit transparent so hopefully will mature and reflect more in future. It feels forced,...
Read moreI had a really disappointing meal here. We weren't offered drinks until about 20 minutes after we arrived and no menus until after 30 minutes as there was only 1 waitress servicing 2 outdoor areas and inside. When we finally received our menus she told us that they were out of almost half of the items on the menu and some of what they did have left there were only 1 portion left. It's pretty bad to be out of a lot of your menu at 530pm on a Saturday evening. Most of the group just got a burger since they still had those, one a salad and myself the mussels. The mussels were okay but the butter and wine suace was very watery and flavourless. I didn't try the burger but my spouse said it wasn't good. The waitress was friendly and trying hard and maybe the pub just had a bad night, but I won't be back to...
