This is a great place to have some food and a beer or two. Friendly staff and a beer shop selling the full range of Greene King beers plus some interesting craft ales in bottle can and small kegs.
We had a day in Bury St Edmunds and planned to have a sandwich lunch in the Beer Café. There was a reasonable choice on the menu and prices were pretty fair.
We ordered a tuna and a BLT sandwich and had a try of the Ale Fresco on draft. The food was well presented and tasty with generous fillings, salad & a few crisps! Good bread too! Brilliant!!! Food & beer hit the spot!!!
I chose half a dozen bottles from amongst the Craft Academy offerings, including a couple of Belhaven Twisted Thistle. Loads of choice!! Would have loved to the the car nearer but I understand you an order online.
Good visit and we'll come back, for sure. Thanks to all the shop, bar and kitchen staff and brewery's beer elves for doing...
Read moreBrillant experience despite not being allowed in the main building to watch the beer brew. I hoped I could gift aid my ticket and come back for that part after all covid restrictions had been lifted. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, it was great hearing the history walking tour of the founder, then the tasting was brillant, over 6 different kind of blends, plus nibbles. As great to hear from one of the pump engineers too, when he was checking one of the old speckled hen taps, on his job and what he did. Everything tasted could be brought in the shop with 10% off a free bottle of beer too. We stayed and had lunch after and got 10% off the lunch. Would definitely go back to stock up on supplies and if in the area for lunch. Great customer service by everyone from...
Read moreThis was a surprise present from my gorgeous girlfriend. I had no idea what to expect but it was really informative and most importantly a whole lot of fun. Our tour guide, Kim, was just fantastic, so much energy and knowledge. It was a really inclusive experience, we were all made to feel really welcome right from the start. Kim talked us through the history of the business, walked us around the workings of the brewery itself, including fantastic rooftop views of Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding area, before finishing with an entertaining sample of GK’s many tasty beers. I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this tour. I’m already arranging to return with friends, and I’ll be specifically asking only for Kim as our tour guide....
