UPDATE: Updating the rating to 1 star from 3 stars because the restaurant is lying. I made the order and my partner did not speak even a single word about the things we ordered. Upon asking why it was added the server did specifically mention that we add chutney tray automatically if a papadom is ordered. We both had the same experience and my partner had her own views. It is sad that we are being accused of lying instead of restaurant taking the constructive feedback and fixing things in it's establishment. We are all for supporting small businesses but if you lie to your customers on a public platform then it doesn't make you look nice. As far as reservations are concerned, we were not asked if we had a reservation. If the restaurant did not have space then you could've just said to us and we would've walked. And people reading the reviews can see our profile to check how many reviews we have written and if they really are fake. :) We were 2 and we ordered 2 papadoms, chicken tikka, chicken shashlik bhuna, tarka daal, garlic naan, cheese naan and a couple of soft drinks. Total bill: £42.95
The good: Chicken pieces were tender, naan was really soft and the tarka daal was really nice with garlic flavour. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice and cosy with bollywood songs playing in the background. The restaurant is BYOB so that is good as well.
The bad: We did not order chutney tray which was added to our order by the restaurant staff and served to us, initially we thought the chutneys were complimentary but they were not. Upon asking why it was added, the answer we got was the tray always comes if you order papadoms. Then why is it on the menu if it is "automatically" served with each papadom? Doesn't make sense at all. It should be the other way around if it has to be this way. This should be clearly written on the menu or the staff should tell the customer when taking the order instead of just adding it in the bill. This is not about the £2.95 being added to your bill, it is about the clarity for the customer.
The coke and sprite we ordered were not served out of cans they were just filled in a glass from either the bar or the kitchen, the menu showed cans but there was no fizz in drinks and were either watered down or served from a bigger bottle which was flat.
The chicken tikka was not authentic, it did not look like it was charred in the clay oven like...
Read moreIn light of your overly defensive response to my review let me be more specific. A ‘Pop up’ on your website advertises a 10% discount for collection but makes no mention of a local delivery charge. The first and only time reference to a delivery charge is made is at the final stage of checkout having already taken the time to add items to the basket. At this point it becomes something of a ‘Hobson choice’. Given that my £25 order would have received a 10% discount had I collected the true cost to me for delivery is £6.50, just over 25% of the order value.
You are correct in pointing out that the Onion Bahji description makes no reference to salad but I can’t imagine that these would be served in your restaurant without it. If that is indeed the case then there is a hint of dual standards for a takeaway. A petty omission on your part in my opinion and no more than a reasonable expectation as opposed to an assumption, on mine.
At checkout I needed to provide an email address but received no confirmation whatsoever that you had received my order. In the event I called the restaurant to make sure you had. What was the point of taking an email?
As for the ‘bright green’ mint sauce in my opinion artificial or not it unnecessarily had food colouring in.
Thankfully a tasty Royal Bengal.

Read moreWe live in Clare and thought having an Indian restaurant locally would be a good thing. But in the several years it’s been open we’ve had many takeaways and eaten in there several times, simply because it’s convenient and other Indians are miles away. They were advertising a new buffet style dinner so on 24 June 2012 we decided to give it a go. I rang and booked at lunchtime for a table in the evening, approx’ 5.30pm when they opened, no problem I was told. When we arrived at 5.45pm they had no record of our booking, and said the buffet didn’t start until 6pm (not mentioned on the advertising). We sat for 10 minutes before I went and asked if we could at least have drinks and popadoms, this appeared to be a lot to ask, but after another 5 minutes they arrived with some pop’s and took a drinks order. The pop’s were cold and chewy, must’ve been left over from lunchtime, they were also not included in the buffet price of £9.95 per person. The buffet was laid out at 6.10pm, and consisted of - Ck tikka, Garlic Lamb, Vegetable curry, Ck korma, Sag Aloo, Pilau rice, onion bajee and Garlic naan bread. (the naan did not come out until 6.30pm, and even then was only 2 cut up small). The food was overall ok, nice flavour.
The staff were grumpy and seemed annoyed that we were there (it wasn’t exactly busy with our table of 6 and a woman with her young son), they put drinks down at one end of the table and expected us to pass them to each other, the same with clearing the popadom plates and used glasses, the waiter stood at the end of the table, grunted and pointed until we passed them to him. We would have had a better and cheaper buffet if we had ordered a dish each and shared between us! Also, my brother has a 1 yr old son, and there was no high chair for him to use. A wholly...
