Tilly's Tearoom — Restaurant in West Suffolk

Popped in for breakfast with a couple of friends. Had breakfast here before a while back and have to say the standard has really slipped. The sausages were really poor quality, the egg was way overcooked underneath, was barely edible, toast could do with coming out with butter on already for that price, people can ask if they don't want butter, when the toast comes out cold the butter doesn't melt in, beans in a separate pot seems like a way of giving less. One of our party had a vegan breakfast and wasn't told there was no vegan bacon, they just added extra mushrooms to the plate!

To top it off, someone brought their dog in which crapped on the floor! Admittedly that isn't their fault but it just topped off a bad experience.

For £15 a head with drinks, it was an expensive visit, something I don't mind if the quality is there, sadly it wasn't.

When we arrived, we were told to find a table that wasn’t reserved, so we did. Then we were told we had seated ourselves in the middle of a baby shower and should move to a dirty table, but that they would clean it immediately. It took them at least 10 minutes to actually come clear the table. They have no tea list and you can’t see what teas they offer from the bar. We decided to stick with basics and both teas we ordered were super weak- like virtually clear even after steeping at the table for awhile. The scones were strangely salty and at best decent. There was nothing outright bad about this place, but nothing all that good either. My husband ordered a tuna mayonnaise and cheese toastie which was definitely the only actually good part...

Disappointing... it's a real shame we didn't get the same experience that many people had in their reviews, as that's what brought us here in the first place!

The initial greeting was friendly and we were told to take a seat and someone would come over to take our order. We waited for almost 10 minutes and nobody came, so I went to the counter to order. A lady was making some coffees and another lady looking at her phone, but I wasn't acknowledged at all. I can't lie, while I was standing there, seemingly invisible, I did consider just leaving. It takes very little to say "will be with you in a moment" and makes the world of difference.
