Astley Fish and Chips — Restaurant in Wigan

I have never once left this chippy without a smile on my face. Brilliant atmosphere, staff are exceptionally friendly and they will quite often have a lovely conversation with you while they prepare your food. There are designated sitting areas where you can sit while waiting. Food can take a little while (but never ridiculously long) to prepare but is always very clean and delicious and never too expensive. Plus, even if fish is not your thing, they offer plenty of other items on the menu, I quite often get chicken nuggets or jumbo sausage and chips, still tasty. Overall a local establishment to be proud of, just a shame it's closed...

Everything here always made fresh, yes you have to wait a few minutes but I believe it's worth it as you're getting your food straight out of the fryer and not out from under some heat lamps. The ladies that run the show are always polite and serve with a smile. Great size portions, as an adult its not easy to put away a small fish and chip. I personally love this spot. The only thing that would make it better is if it was open...
