Astleys Sandwich and Deli Bar — Restaurant in Wigan

Shocking experience on a Saturday morning. Food can be 50/50 (sausages are often burnt and hard) but when its nice its really nice, its just a shame the service really lets it down. Visited today with lots of people already waiting and complaining about wait times, wrong orders being given left right and centre with lack of sincere apologies and met with poor attitude from the young girl serving.

Took over 10 minutes to be served with no acknowledgement and that had to be asked for, waited for over 30 minutes to be asked what my order was as it hadn’t even been started. Many others walking out for the same reason with stacks of food on the hot plate for 20 minutes + probably stone cold once given out. I can accept busy periods and the stress of hospitality but it was more the attitude, lack of apology and lack of communication - if wait times are going to be 20-30 minutes plus just tell people when they order?

For a busy Saturday morning you probably need more than 1 cook and 1 server who are making so many mistakes. Shame as I am a regular customer and this visit/treatment has really soured my opinion, which is a shame as this shop has a lot of potential - Wasted almost 40 minutes of my morning to end up with...

If you like being ignored then by all means hop on in. I came in for just literally a cup of coffee but Carol, Sharon and Karen were more important. I was a customer every other day till today. When I walked in there was a queue of about 5 people,as the last one left 2 more walked in and somehow they got their orders taken before I was even asked if I've been served. Thanks ladies. And Wendy, I know you like to come at bad reviews, tread lightly or correct the situation.

UPDATE : Business 101- Your walk-in customers should be prioritized over phone orders. You don't have a client standing in front of you while you answer the phone, take down an order and work on that before serving the in person customer. That should be common...

Had a quick bite on the go as reviews were great. Jumbo hot dog was mainly a huge bread and a lot of grilled onions. The actual meat was not jumbo at all and was definitely undercooked, still cold inside. Not pleasant. Coffee to be avoided. Worst ever had in my life. I had to throw it away. Could not drink it. The wonderful server was clearly unable to make a coffee and steam the milk. The lady serving me was wonderful, gentle and welcoming.
