I was very disappointed with La Casa, despite most of the food being very good.
We had a lovely family day out for my wife’s birthday and decided to find an Italian for some lunch. We said for a long time that we should visit here and so rang ahead and booked a table.
We ate in the conservatory which has a lovely atmosphere and beautiful scenery.
I went to the baby changing toilet (the disabled toilet) to change my little boy’s nappy and it was occupied. I could hear a video playing inside so after a polite amount of time I decided to knock. Soon after a member of staff came out. Ok… whatever.
Our waiter then needed me to repeat my drinks order three times - I ordered a large Diet Coke, that was it. What turned up was a glass bottle of Diet Coke, which I would not have ordered had I know it wasn’t draft. Not that big of a deal though.
The same waiter then stood by, dancing with a colleague, laughing and joking with her, whilst casually swearing in conversation with her.
When our food turned up my 3 year old’s margarita pizza turned up with what looked like wet slop in the middle of it. I picked up a slice and all of the topping just slid off the pizza and fell to the plate leaving plain pizza base in my hand and a slop of cheese and tomato on the plate. When I brought this to the attention of the manager he first couldn’t see what I meant and insisted that it’s just tomato and cheese - nevertheless, he then agreed to have it remade. The next pizza turned up ever so slight better but basically the same. I ended up cutting the pizza up, leave the centre slop on the plate and giving my son the outer half of each slice.
Even despite having returned one meal no one came and asked if our food was ok.
When we finished our meals the waiter asked, “are you all done?” Never once asking if we enjoyed our meal or inviting us to offer an opinion at all.
Indubitably, none of the above is a great grievance but collectively I say there just feeling annoyed and agitated. The waiter couldn’t care less if we were there or not - I wish we were not.
I am disappointed because it is a nice venue with a nice menu and our pasta dishes and garlic bread were really nice. I wouldn’t be surprised if you went that you’d have a lovely time. For me, I felt slighted and annoyed. Not an enjoyable meal for my wife’s birthday celebration.
It’s worth noting there was another waiter, a guy with blonde hair, who brought over our meals each time who was very friendly, personable and...
Read moreWell, we have been coming here since they opened in 2019, every 2 weeks. We have always felt valued and the food was good quality, so this outweighed quite pricey food and drink.
However, we visited in December, a party of 13 of us, and we were treated so shocking. They put us in the worst part of the restaurant, despite booking a month in advance. They put us in the conservatory, with no heating at all near our table, it wasn't working. We had elderly people with us, who were bitter cold in the conservatory. One went onto have pneumonia.
Everyone complained about the cold in there, they moved everyone but our party, because we were too large to move. After 2 hours, at the end of our meal, they then moved our party.
We have only visited twice since then, because we were so upset about our treatment.
Tonight was the final time we will go. The service was poor and food standards not great. We were served soup without a spoon, and the staff were stood around just chatting. One staff member was even sat on the food serving area. We, absolutely thought, what was going on.
Yet again, the food was far to salty. In this day and age, salt should be a conservative commodity.
The service was poor and food standards poor, considering the prices they charge. Obviously they aren't bothered about small people like myself and my husband, and don't care for regular business, they don't need it.
So it's to this end, we will never step foot here again. This restaurant should care about its customers. They have got too big for its boots and need to go...
Read moreThe setting, and restaurant look, is really good and appealing to the eye. Therefore; gives off a certain expectation!! Although!! one should never judge a book by its cover !!! On entrance to the restaurant, we were greeted by a very welcoming member of staff, who made myself and my friends feel at ease.. and we had a little giggle between ourselves.. then he showed us to our table. We were a little early; as we were waiting for other friends and members of our group as it was booked for a birthday surprise. We ordered some drinks before everyone arrived.. we waited about 20 mins before we had too remind them about lack of drinks ( all 5 of us .. and only on of them was a cocktail !!) …. Food was discussed.. as you do.. in a party.. and tbh.. all of our party looked at the menu but never mentioned to each other how expensive it was … because we all thought.. its got to be really good.. so i .. myself ordered the scallops.. and tbh at £12.95 for a starter.. I thought thats expensive 🤷🏻♀️ But thats what I wanted.. it came… it still had the roe on it.. cut in to the first one..and had too spit the other half out as it had sinew attached to the roe ( paying £12.95 for a starter i expect them to be clean with no roe or sinew..) I called the waiter over.. i sent them back.. mentioning about the sinew and the fact they were over cooked also… then another member of our party agreed that she had the same problem with her scallops 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ Mmmmmmm both plates were taken away… with...
