If you read my other reviews, you'll see I giv credit where it's due. This place was full of under age drinkers. Our meal was booked 7.30 for 8 pm. Previous sitting still on the table at 8.30 staff lied and said our table.waa.being set up when it wasn't. Eventually seated and starters arrived but some were 20 mins after the rest had finished. The food itself (majority had steak) was, when we finally got it, well cooked but service was shocking. Continuously had to ask where food was. No veg, just steak and potatoes for approx £40/head. Not worth the money. Sauces were too salty. Had to pre-order but didn't ask how you liked steak cooked so trying to do it on the night in a noisy, overcrowded bar. In the end I suggested they just bring jugs of sauce (pepper corn and Diane even though on menu it was advertised as being served with blue cheese) and we would sort out ourselves rather then then trying to match up various degrees of cooked steak with correct sauce. Ate our food with security guard standing right behind our seats. We are all 40 / 50 plus, not about to cause trouble so not an enjoyable atmosphere.. Had to then chase desserts which were absolutely shocking. Tiramisu was just squirty cream with almond.biscuit on top. Especially during 2 weeks before Xmas, management should consider only admitting people who were dining. Chef posing for selfies with teenage girls when people are waiting on food?? Like dining in a nightclub. Never again! If the establishment wants to make it's money being a bar - do just that, don't promote dining - leave that to La Casa etc. Will stick to Vesuvio, La Casa, Eden,...
Read moreFirstly the service we received was great but this is not a restaurant. It is a club/bar that serves food! It markets itself as a restaurant, which is very misleading, but even when you ask staff what type of establishment they would class it as, they say more of a bar. With that in mind. The food is OK but overpriced for what it is. I'd be tempted to pay a little more and go to the Hawksmoor in Manchester for a proper steak cooked as ordered! Especially when paying £78 & £68 respectively. Asked for pink no blood (know, it's not blood), but both came well done(brown). Again, the food was ok for Astley, but Manchester prices. It does not match the quality, unfortunately, or value for money, of similarpriced restaurants. Had the prices been lower, it may have been less of a sting. The ambience certainly spoiled the experience as it was like sitting in a nightclub, with people dancing to club music whilst we were trying to enjoy a meal. We could not even have a conversation with each other as we were unable to hear each other over the music. We tried to make the best of the situation. After paying our £423 bill (excluding tip) and politely mentioning the ambience, the answer was to bring us tequila shots. Bare in mind party of 5, 4 of which over 50, 2 of which over 70 and we had just mentioned that we had gone expecting a restaurant meal not a club/bar experience 😀 luckily we have a sense of humour, although I think the shots were a genuine gesture of apology- Note to management; Know...
Read moreWe had a table booked for 9 people at 6pm. We arrived early at 5:30pm and was seated at the table. 10 minutes later we were asked by the waiter for our order, we explained we are waiting for another guest, to be told, quite rudely we only have the table for 2 Hours, it was 5:40pm. Upon ordering, I asked for a vegetarian starter and main, to be told they don’t have either. Rather disappointed that at 6pm on a Saturday night they did not have the Stuffed Red Peppers or Courgette, leaving me with having to order a meat dish! Attitude was poor upon complaining, response from staff was ‘well we opened at 4pm’, well it’s 6pm on a Saturday night in the run up to Christmas, one of the busiest times of the year. Poor Planning for a restaurant! The food that I did order was nice, good portion size. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The atmosphere was ok, fantastic Saxophonist. No dress code for the men, so lots were dressed down in trainers, tracksuits.
Glad we were not sat in the middle row of tables as those that were, had people surrounding them queuing at the bar whilst they were trying to eat. The bar got quite busy so not ideal of your eating.
Overall it was a nice venue and nice food, but could...
