Where to start? Definitely not a 5 star stay, 3 if being generous. Room number 101 was a decent size but woefully unclean. All areas that need more than a superficiall wipe were very dusty. Particularly the little tray that holds the kettle, tea and coffee. The bathroom tiling was in need of re-grouting as it is gross. The hair dryer had a 'Failed. Do not use' sticker on it from it's PAT test. Great friendly staff though. Bed was comfortable enough. Breakfast was of course not included but from the extensive Wetherspoon's menu. I had as always the vegetarian breakfast. Toast was not really toasted. Mushroom was stone cold. But you gets what you pays for and a cooked breakfast and as much coffee as you can drink for under a fiver? I'm in! Important context: My experience was a 1 night stay and does not represent this establishment in it's entirety. No-one in hospitality sets out to provide a poor experience. Anyone can have an off day.

Dirty mattress Stayed here one night The pub was alright and staff friendly . Not a great location but I was here for business so suited me . The rooms on first impression were not bad Bathroom was fine ..clean and towels good and nice shower and bath . Nice tea /coffee area Water left in kettle which is a NO No also the kettle was dirty on the out side . Carpets were old and stained The mattress was awful and I asked to be moved as picture shows . I told the staff member who didn’t even offer to look but just offered me another room .. Which was slight better but still a stained mattress .. The mattress topper to protect the mattress was thin and worn .. I won’t be back as it was so dirty and felt I was lying on someone’s old pee stains and sick

I have dined at many Wetherspoon pubs during the past, this year alone I have visited and enjoyed meals at various pubs and hotels in the Wetherspoons chain. Ruthin-Minehead-StreetSomerset- Burnhsm on Sea - Westhoughton- Chorley - Wigan “Moon o Water” - so I think you would have to agree I appreciate the food and the hospitality of Wetherspoons, the value of the meals normally are outstanding - however I have never had to leave a meal because the steak inedible I did mention my disappointment to a lady staff member on leaving, this last Thursday dinner, as I visited with my granddaughter and great granddaughter- perhaps you may recall if you were the person I spoke to when leaving ? The Brocket Arms was a disappointment

I'm from Wigan and needed a cheap overnight stay near my parents for Dad's birthday and TBH, we weren't expecting much from the Brocket but it was the cheapest and nearest. How wrong we were!! I've not been out in Wigan since 2017 because of my health and it was a real eye-opener! Massive thanks to all the amazing staff is the first important thing to say.||I love watching Four in a Bed and we always play along when we stay away, so we went on holiday to Wigan with open and objective minds, based on the value for money. We're not as bad as to actually record the experience but this stay was so unexpectedly fantastic that I'm doing it like the 4 in a Bed form :-)||1. How were your Hosts at the Brocket Arms?||Absolutely fantastic, 10/10 A++++ from start to finish.|The staff when we arrived were friendly, efficient, professional, helpful with very speedy service.|I'm disabled and knew there wasn't a lift, so was a bit worried about accessibility (but hubby can always piggy-back me if necessary). Karen on reception went above and beyond by changing our room so it was easier for me to get to and she made sure we had a disabled parking space close to the entrance (free of charge!).||2. How clean was it?||Spotless were it mattered i.e. bathroom, bed etc. The only dust was on the window frames that are original to the old building, so obviously expected. The housekeepers obviously take pride in their work and pay a lot of attention to detail. The lady we met on the way out was lovely. ||3. How were the facilities?||We didn't expect much and just wanted to eat after work and travel. Previous experience with Wetherspoons food (years ago) didn't give much hope but there is a massive choice, especially when you don't eat meat. I loved that adults can get small portions; I can't eat a lot a time and it's embarrassing ordering kids meals for myself. |The food was delicious, plentiful, tasty. Service was great, excellent timings and great staff. Very, very reasonable prices and good offers that I actually fancied. Wish we could have had breakfast too but I'm not hungry in the mornings.||I was particularly impressed with the huge bath, loads of hot water, and just enough products to meet needs in a sustainable, environmentally friendly way. I hate all the little plastic products in most places and the refillable things that haven't been filled are almost even worse. This was a refreshing change that should be standard everywhere.||Good tea tray, plenty options, nice biscuits - I appreciate having bottled water but maybe this could be provided in refillable/reusable bottles instead of plastic. The glasses are lovely, much better than little plastic rubbish. Really nice touches all over, especially the art work commissioned by Wetherspoons from local school children featuring local points of interest - I was fascinated and would love a big version for over my fireplace in Liverpool to remind me of home. ||4. How did you sleep?||The bed was massive, very comfy and clean. Lovely pillows, slept like a baby (very unusual for me). It was really warm and cosy, the black-out blinds work perfectly and it was really peaceful. The only downside was the school-run traffic woke me up and went on for about half an hour but it was so nice, I managed another snooze afterwards. We'd definitely stay again but would ask for a room at the back, otherwise PERFECT!||5. How was breakfast?||We didn't have breakfast but the menu was really varied with lots of things I'd like to have tried, all at very good prices. I just don't eat in the morning much but I liked having the option if I wanted to without feeling pressured because it was automatically included.||6. Would you stay here again?||A big YES!! We had a great time on our mini-holiday to Wigan because of the Brocket and the team there. Most of our relatives are local and for any future family gatherings, we'll be staying at the Brocket!||Thank you again, Karen and everyone at...

Never had any issues here. Went tonight and started off nicely. Service is as normal.. we ordered food and drinks on the app, and our friends ordered x3 times for us, they got us some x2 pints, shots and some ice cream (thanks). There was only 2 of us. Every time they'd bring something over they'd slam it down whilst rolling their eyes. Specifically this young girl, quite tall, brown hair, pony tail. Didn't catch her name, but I've never felt so uncomfortable whilst being served in any establishment ive been too. Then I went to order some more food and drinks on the app (as friends arrived at this point to order stuff) and it no longer allowed us or them. Bit strange.. so I asked the same young girl and she said "it's been turned off" I said "all together or for this table?" She said "just this table, youre playing a game", I carried on conversating with her nicely as I am usually to anyone in customer service, and this girl just walks on off away from me, mid sentence. I just wanted to understand. So so rude, after all the eye rolling too... a simple answer would have sufficed, but the attitude just made me want to leave and never come back. Bare in mind, i never continued to order anything since the cut off after only 3 orders and that stonking interaction. It just made me not even want to. If it was such a problem, why not my question and tell me and I will understand and carry on ordering and giving you my money appropriately.. but the stinking attitude from the get go just made me want to run from there. And its such a shame as a local.. I can't say I've ever been anywhere where theres young girls with as much as a stonking attitude as this. Times are really changing.. Cause I'm quite positive and couldn't be more appreciative of service since being in the same industry, so i understand the service they get on the receiving end. But i gave them no reason, i will always smile at you.. but this has taken me a back. Don't think I'd feel comfortable going there again. That interaction was just plain ignorant and so uncalled for. Especially with the energy i was giving to them. I wish I caught her name.. Rolling your eyes at me like I'm some drunk whose ruined your cornflakes that same morning. I'm just stunned.... Other than that, we would have stayed longer, drinks were okay until they stopped after only 3 different orders, food okay. Service was absolutely nil. Proper...
