Frankie & Benny's — Restaurant in Winchester

I just took my 8 year son to Frankies & Bennies for his 8th Birthday, Iam saddened to say the food was average and the service was less than average

My partner ordered a Caesar Salad , given the price of £11.84 I believe she expected it came with chicken. It did not. It would have been nice if the service staff could have asked this question at the point of sale. As a meatless salad with soggy croutons really isnt a meal. Also the chef could not even be bothered to dice the lettuce. They literally broke a single lettuce into 4 quarters and covered it in sauce. Just a terrible dinner. I wouldnt even feed it to a rabbit.

The Pepperoni Pizza was not even crispy on the bottom - it was a bit soggy - I have had better pizzas from Kebab shops.

We kindly asked the staff if they would bring us out a birthday cake - which they did. But sadly they did not have the experience to know that we would also required plates , forks and a knife to cut the cake. Presumable at home they must eat like the heathens of old with their hands.

The service overall was very slow. The staff were polite and tried hard , however they just dont seem to have the experience. There were lots of staff on shift , but they seemed way to preoccupied with dealing with take-away orders instead.

I think Frankies and Bennies should consider becoming a cheap takeaway instead of focusing on in house dining - they are no good at it and dont seem interested in training their staff whom I felt very sorry for.

Then it comes to the drinks. We asked for an extra coffee - it took over 20minutes to not arrive - at which point we asked for the bill - and they tried to bill us for a coffee that was not provided.

I wish the staff the best and was sad I wasnt able to tip this time.

If you have a special occasion I encourage you to look elsewhere for a special time. Frankie and Bennies is a 3rd rate eatery which needs to think hard about its prioritisation between...

Saturday 6th Jan 2018, pre booked table for 8. Booking was easy. We had been in the restaurant 25 minutes before we were served any drinks, adults served first, 4yr, 5yr and 8yr old still waiting 20 minutes before we could place an order 60 minutes to be served 2 starters. 2 party members main course was served 15 minutes after the other mains. One person had finished before my 8 years old son even had a plate in front of him. Some of the cutlery was used on starters, none was provided for mains, we had to ask several times for two forks. Empty glasses were only taken away when we asked and not even taken away when new drinks arrived Part of my 8 year old’s meal was forgotten, we had to ask three times for it Medium Rare steak was defiantly the well done side of Medium. Chips were cold Drinks order arrived wrongly twice. 2 waiters tried to argue that Cabernet Savignan is white despite it being correctly described as red on the menu. We repeatedly had to ask where our food and drinks were Kids deserts were another long wait, topping forgotten from one of them, by now we just wanted to leave. Waiter blamed kitchen for all of the problems. This was the first time I have not left a tip in many years. If, and I do stress the work "If," this restaurant has a manager then he/she should be thoroughly ashamed. None of us will return here or to any other F&B restaurants, this was an appalling meal for a family get together and a complete waste of our money. I hope others take notice...

I came here with my family and 2 friends. The staff that came to take the drinks order was knowledgeable onbth3 menu and was polite. We them ordered our food, again all good. Until the food began to arrive, the first item to arrive was a bacon burger (not ordered a chicken burger was), the Mac and cheese was bland, had little to no taste and was extremely bland, no cheese taste at all, this was returned and no replacement requested, just to be removed from the bill. We also ordered a chicken stack with ribs. The ribs were acceptable, nothing special. The chicken was cut into 2 pieces, the first was poor quality, it had a texture similar to fish, was a bit slimy and not pleasant, the second half was OK, again nothing special. Slightly after this a member of management cane up with the Mac and cheese boxed up to takeaway, again it had to be explained that this was bit requested and that it was in fact returned and wasn't wanted! A further manager then came over, she was brilliant! She took the time to discuss the issue (she spoke English as a second language) But was brilliant, she was knowledgeable in the business and the products and was interested in the feedback! We requested a jug of tap water, the first jug arrived, when we requested a second, there was apparently no jugs so 4 pint glases of water were supplied instead!
