Golden Park Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Wirral

Came once for an all you can eat buffet with a friend for their birthday as a treat. We paid upfront for food and a round of drinks to start, costing near £50, It took about an hour and a half to receive our starters (two small plates) and drinks. We waited longer for more but time was passing by with no service whilst other tables where continuously being served from the kitchen and bar. We aimed to leave shortly after notifying staff of our plans to be at the cinema (tickets pre-booked) with enough time to be served food and at least get what we payed for before having to dash. We were advised to hold on as the food was being prepared and on its way. We waited as long as we could, (~30 minutes again) before we approached the bar staff to tell them we had to leave and sought a refund or even deduct the 2 dishes and drinks from the bill and refund the difference but they were having none of it and blamed us for the error of coming on a busy evening, as if we were the inconvenience. All in all we were there for 2½-3 hours, which we thought was adequate time for meals and drinks to be served and still have enough time to follow on with our plans with enough time.

I'll state that I don't like leaving bad reviews and I'm not here to bad reviews without an acceptable reason BUT I was kind and polite to the staff, we were patient and I understood it was a busy evening but we had still paid, wasn't warned of delays, deceived on how our meals were about to be served and kept waiting whilst other customers came and went. This seriously left a bad taste in my mouth and I felt robbed of my time, money and given the embarrassment of a nice treat on my friends birthday...

Absolutely awful! AVOID! I do not recommend this restaurant. The decor was dated, cheap and nasty. The food was just awful, it was barely palatable. We left half way thru the meal as we were feeling worse and worse. (Which no refund was given, had to pay full even tho we all felt ill from the food) The soup that was served was basically sweetcorn and chicken gloop with a crab stick cut up by scissors dropped in. Really?! Having been to a few all you can eat Chinese restaurants, this is by far the worst. You expect to see an array or dishes set out to help your self (self serve), fresh and full of variety. Instead you are limited to a set menu which is not all you can eat as they remind you while ordering (about 10 times) that you can only order what you will eat. The menu was limited and lacked variety. The staff spent most the time asking if you had finished your food and trying to take it away even tho you'd just got it. The menu states that you must pay in full even if you don't have every course, which you can see why now because we couldn't stomach more than the starter. We tried to reason that the food wasn't you to scratch but no alternative was offered. Needless to say we will never be going back. Also have told plenty of people to avoid this restaurant. Disgusting...

The friendlies of staff and a welcoming thats good is let down by the food. While the portion sizes are okay and you can ask for more, the food nice and hot its wasn't as expected. The food lacked in flavour, egg fried rice appeared to be missing egg or it was super small and the rice was full of starch. The lemon chicken sauce wasn't a traditional lemon sauce but rather a packet sauce thick and powdery.

The duck and pancakes were also poor with the pancakes very dry, not much cucumber or spring onion and what appeared to be the scraps of a previous dinners duck also very dry.

The sweet and sour chicken sauce was also similar in texture and taste. The food also repeated on me and can gave me heart burn during the night and i had drank any alcohol, this reminded me why I haven't been here for years.

I can't fault the service and speed although it was a thursday late evening and rather quiet. The decor is okay but dated slightly but the tables layout is good and not cramped.

There is free parking infront of the restaurant and on the public roads around it.

I wouldn't say this is value for money when other Chinese restaurants in Wirral are charging the same or less for all you can eat buffet and their food quality...
