Spice Garden — Restaurant in Wirral

We had high hopes for this restaurant, after speaking with friends who have had great experiences here. So we took the plunge to order here today rather than our usual place. Positives, poppadoms and chutney were great as was the keema mushroom rice. The delivery guy was super friendly and apologised for the 30 minute delay. Negatives, the food had to be microwaved as was luke warm, the lamb jalfrezi was certainly not medium spiced, instead very very mild and bland, and was overloaded with onion, approx 2 pepper slivers and no fresh green Chillies, the Keema Naan had no Keema in it, and pre ordering the food before the restaurant opened with a specified delivery time didn't make a difference. When I called the restaurant to check what had happened as the order on Just Eat was marked up as if it had already been delivered, so the person who answered was blunt and refused to hold a conversation. I have been a loyal customer for many years and always found Spice Garden better than all local alternatives. I won't be returning following the last two experiences I had. I have a take away curry as a rare treat, so when it's wrong it really dissapoints. I gave them the benefit of the doubt last time, but this time it was worse still. Ruin my treat once, a shame for me. Ruin my treat twice, bad review for them! In a nutshell, I ordered online on a Tuesday evening for 7.30pm delivery. At 6.45 the rang to check if I wanted it now. They've clearly cooked the meal without looking at the time. I asked then to deliver at the time requested as I was still at work. I was delivered my order at 7.30, but as you've guessed it was near cold. The nasn had gone soggy, it was basically inedible. I tried to salvage bits, but the 4 pieces of meat in my very watery vindaloo had gone cold and tough. It got binned. There's no way I'm willing to risk my money on this place anymore. They've lost a customer...

Went to try out the buffet on a Sunday evening. The buffet starts at 4pm. We went at 6.30pm and the small starters, nan bread , samosas and small cuts of food were all very dry and lukewarm.

In the starters tray were the lukewarm samosas, chicken pieces and strangely chicken nuggets and hash browns. No pakoras, or onion bahjis which was very disappointing.

My tikka masala was thankfully warm enough which was better than most of the lukewarm food. My friend said his curry was tasty.

Sadly the meal was very disappointing, in the face of lots of competition from other nearby restaurants it wouldn't be a choice for us in the future.

I gave it 3 stars instead of 2 only because the staff were attentive...
