DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! . Myself and my family went here on a Sunday. They never brought us any menus, then couldn't find the children's menus. When we eventually ordered the food took so long to come out. Once the food was brought out they forgot the children's food, the roast dinner was probably the worst I have ever had. I eat the Yorkshire pudding and nothing else, at this point the children's food still wasn't brought out so I didn't say anything as I wanted to make sure the children's food was sorted. In the end only one childs meal was brought out, we told them to leave the other as we were completely fed up. Once the one child had eaten we asked for the bill and mentioned to the staff that the roast dinners were awful, the plates were still on the table so I showed that I hadn't eaten any of mine and the meat, on my partners plate (beef) still had string hanging on it and it wasn't even chewable. The staff member said there was nothing he could do, he said the manager was off with covid and he couldn't make the decision to take anything off the bill. I insisted I shouldn't have had to pay full price for the roasts as the staff could clearly see the plates almost untouched, we were there in the end for half an hour before he said he would offer a slight discount, as we had a 2 year old with us we agreed in the view that we would never return and tell friends and family to avoid. As we were paying we got asked not to leave a review. I have never been so astounded by such a poor service and then to have the additional cheek to ask me not to leave a review. We had to go to mcdonalds on the way home as we had been in there for hours and our son had left without any food. NEVER AGAIN WOULD I GO HERE AND I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE THINKING OF VISITING SEARCH FOR SOMEWHERE ELSE.. THE PRICES ARE EXTORTIONATE, SO TO COME AWAY DISSATISFIED AND NOT EVEN FED IS JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! I ALSO STILL HAVE THE PHOTOGRAPH OF THE UNEATEN ROAST DINNER AND I WILL ADD THAT SHORTLY. To add - here's a photograph of said children.. one on the left is the one that didn't eat.. this was taken in the oak on 15/10/23 I also have photographs on my other phone of the meat with the string on.. and the uneaten roast just waiting for my phone screen to be fixed and I'll upload. Your response adds further insult to injury as obviously everything that was said on the day to us was a lie! What a way to run a business

Don't be fooled like myself. Hear lies a restaurant that is so far gone that it cannot accept genuine criticism that the food it serves is sub-par; this is not the gourmet experience it seems on the surface to depict and charge for. Unfortunately when ringing up to raise the issue I was instantly transferred to a member of staff who denied they were the owner however their knowledge of the operation and the reply to this review seems to show otherwise. What was displayed next was as much empathetic range as Steven Hawkins' voice box. I was quite flawed to hear the level of blatant ignorance over the course of an needlessly long half hour phone call. Ranging from; what changes would I personally introduce to improve their food as they usually have customers supposedly rammed in during dinner service to try their "amazing" food... well I went at 6.30pm on a Saturday and there wasn't a soul in there... go figure. Then a half excuse that their suppliers being on the expensive side to deliver "quality" products and to top it off being offered a whopping 10% discount because they couldn't possibly offer more" as they would have spend more on the food than what I paid for it" though I was then told they couldn't apply this and I had to argue the toss with JustEat. I was beyond disbelief to what utter drivel I was hearing. I can't disregard that this bistro once had quality food but you won't find that food here at present day. I've attached a recent photo of what to expect with a recent visit to Oak Bar & Bistro. You can make your own informed decision... but you have been warned. My thoughts to the reply... The issue was quite simple. The burger pictured costs near ÂŁ15; of which we ordered two. If you're that deluded in your operation that you believe this is "cooked to a high standard" you need a serious evaluation. I hope others see this image because I can't quite honestly understand how you can be proud of "that" at ÂŁ15 a pop. I made that quite clear in my call to then be dismissed and belittled. Thank you for doing me out of the pleasure of revisiting your fine establishment, I shall shed a tear that I can't experience this all over again. What fantastic customer service.

Called in for an impromptu Sunday morning breakfast with friends in December 2023. First time eating here. The place was clean and nicely laid out, and although quite busy there seemed a good amount of space between people and it wasn’t too loud. Waitresses were polite and we didn’t feel rushed at any point, if anything a tad more attention and responsiveness would have been nice - ordering a coffee took quite a while after we arrived, two finished plates were cleared but not the other two, the wait after requesting the bill took so long we had to get up and pay at the bar, etc. As it was four friends filling the time with chat this wasn’t too much of a problem. The menu offered a good choice and there were several things each of us would have had, but we all opted for the large breakfast. Portion sizes were good, ingredients were tasty, and it was well cooked. Seemed good value for money. Would recommend, and we would visit again.

Awful experience. The one star is for the waitress who promptly seated us when we arrived. Just left after meeting up with some friends for lunch, we decided to give this place a go because we always liked it when it was Ellie's. After receiving our food, we were completely ignored by the male server who was on duty. We were planning on getting dessert but after being kept waiting an hour and a half (despite being the only people in the building) we decided against it. Server seemed more interested in standing at the bar talking to friends (who possibly worked there too) than in tending to customers. After an hour and a half another couple walked in to get a drink and were also ignored. When we asked the waiter if he could come over he looked at us and walked away. He asked if we were getting dessert and we explained that we would've done if we hadn't had to wait so long so we would just like our bill please. When he returned with the bill the box was slammed onto the table without a word to us and he walked away. We would not have minded a wait if it was busy, but an hour and a half between courses when we were the only customers in there is a joke. Worst service experience I have ever had anywhere and the atmosphere was awful as we were obviously being ignored. As someone who has worked in customer service and management for over 10 years, I would suggest some additional training for staff. Or at least the ones (excluding the woman) who were working today. Appalling to pay for a meal and be treated as an inconvenience. Wouldn't recommend to anyone unless they get new staff and we certainly...
