Under new management!!!! The beer is great. They have had a full cellar refit from Heineken and it has made a huge difference. They even have two craft beers on. The food is great and cant wait to try the roast which is served until 7 on sunday. The pub has carpet again and is back to feeling warm and cosey like it had previously. Really pleased it's back. Looking forward to summers in the beer garden again! Update: Had a Sunday roast today, it was nothing short of excellent. It's always hard to compete with a home cooked roast, but this certainly did that. And no washing up either. Safe to say the best roast I've had out in a very long time if not ever!

My daughter and I went for lunch today. I have to say both the food and service were excellent, especially our server Liv. Nothing was too much trouble, and what a lovely, friendly person she was. It really makes all the difference when delicious food is served by lovely happy people. Thank you so much. We have been to the Ship Inn before today, and we will most definitely be returning many times. Highly recommend the roast sharer platter on a Sunday, and today, we had the ribs (2 for 1) on the lunch menu. Had to take half home!! 🥰

We were walking from Leasowe to Hoylake and it started raining heavily. So I thought it doesn't rain in pubs so thought we'd call in for a pint. The pub is quite large inside with plenty of room. They have a beer garden at the back and have recently put new benches outside the front of the pub. I've noticed that they have now started doing food at lunchtime so will have to call back to try out the food. They have a great range of beers, ciders and ales. Pleasant staff and good service.

Absolutely shocking service initially, arrived at 19.06 and assured someone would be over to take an order, waitress arrived at 19.38 to take an order despite other tables being served twice in the time we were waiting, drinks order was initially wrong when it arrived, we were table 1 and received table 4's order. Once sent back our order arrived around 19.50 after waiting nearly an hour. After the initial round of drinks were finished we waited another 30 minutes for another order which was not facilitated by usual waiting staff but required one of our party to attend the bar to speak to the manager about poor service, despite 'table service' being in effect but not working effectively. They also overcharged the initial round by £9 but then refunded this via drinks, the manager then came out and was very accommodating facilitating drinks and was very apologetic. Still a bit disappointing evening overall but the staff and management did make an effort in the end to ensure timely ordering and the atmosphere of the pub was lovely...

Sorry to say that having popped in to The Ship for a change this Bank Holiday Monday I have to report that we were most disappointed with our value for money food served. A nice pub atmosphere, we sat inside, our drinks and order was taken quickly by the waitress who was pleasant and attentive. We ordered Fish & Chips for the three of us at £16 per portion. The meals arrived 15mins later and to say we were surprised was an understatement. A small cardboard tray each (not a plate) with a small fish and small portion of skins on fries plus a splodge of tartare sauce. Told that they were expecting many people in so no plates being used today. We suggested to two waitresses that the portion was not value for money. A sorry was given but nothing more than that. I trust that the management were made aware and will perhaps take onboard. By the way, a single portion of skins on fries was £4, which really means the fish were £12...

Cannot recommend this place enough! Yesterday The Ship Inn held our post-christening drinks & nibbles - Adam & Joe put together a beautiful tapas style buffet, a mix of meats, sea food, Mediterranean dishes, vegan options, classic side dishes, the family favourite was the chicken curry! couldn’t have asked for any more from the kitchen team. Everybody was extremely complimentary of the food served, portion sizes, and the service - all staff did a fantastic job (keeping drinks topped up & food replenished) All details taken care of beforehand by Vic & Loz, which put our minds at ease for the big day. Our numbers were slightly higher than originally thought, but all staff did a fantastic job in ensuring every person had a seat & were catered for on the day. Honestly, thank you so much to all that worked yesterday, you pulled it...
