Numerous complaints have been made which always fall on deaf ears. Then only to be ostracized due to “intimidation”because you are complaining further about the complete lack of actions taken over initial complaint !!!! I suppose it’s one way to prevent having to professionally deal with a customers issues. What once was a 5 star establishment is now staffed with a few mini hitlers who need to mature and realise that at some point the little bubble they live in will burst and they’ll find themselves in the real world. People skills and customer care training is definitely required for a number of staff who have a shocking attitude and poor customer relations. Snowflakes at their best. What is society coming to. If you can’t handle working in the pub/catering industry and dealing with customers then don’t. Disappointed with the new management who at first seemed so promising.

Fortunately Hoylake has plenty of other professionally run bars and pubs, where customer service is of a priority and not classed as a privilege for the customer. I regret having to leave a review like this as I don’t want it to detract away from the extremely pleasant and hard working staff that are there. But as always it’s the few who spoil it...

One of the best weatherspoon pubs in Merseyside. Certainly on the Wirral The service is second to none. The staff very friendly and helpful.

The main manager is very good at his job.Very vigilant, and helpful to his staff. He appears to have a relaxed style and helps out when he sees a build up of customers.Consequently there is continuity of staff who find it nice to work there

The food is well cooked within the limits of the cooking facilities. It is fast service even when almost full.

It attracts a range of age groups.

Younger people tend to respect the other customer and even the older ones.It is the influence of the manager

The older customers are respected, even the more eccentric singles who come in after they have lost their life partner .

Ladies with children in prams and with very young siblings meet and are safeand the staff helpful to them.

There is good wheel chair access front and back.Quite a few disabled wheelchair clients some with helpers are catered for.

It has become very popular and ladies come in pairs and even in groups to chat have a snack and bite to eat.

In conclusion would rate it in the top 5% of all the weatherspoons

Went for meal with friends this afternoon, 22/6. The food was extremely poor and service very slow. We meet and eat wth friends all over as we are caravaners. 10oz gammon x2, gammon was black, overdone on one side and no eggs. Another person not quite as well done but still no eggs. A mixed grill was the same, overdone and dry, no egg. Replaced but still no egg. Another mixed grill, the meat was all over cooked. One steak meal came not as ordered. My two gammons were replaced by fish and chips, ok. There was no offer of compensation as replacements were less cost than original order. Plates were not cleared when we left after 30 minutes of no communication, and no one came to check or appologise after we had re ordered, this meant we all ate at different times. SO VERY, VERY...

First visited Dec '19 :Visited about 10am on Christmas eve. It was quiet, ordered a traditional breakfast and an American breakfast. 10 minute wait (which is acceptable) but it seems mine was left out while my wife's was still being cooked so not as hot as I would like.. As always you can't knock a spoons brekkies for the price. First time visit and would visit again. Very clean, staff always seen on the move cleaning tables quickly. *UPDATE Oct '23 : Calledbin while passing through for a quick lunch. Ordered 2 crispy chicken burgers. Arrived very quickly and also hot and they were very nice. Smaller plates than normal meals but as it was only a quick lunch snack it was still a good size. Quite busy but it's a spoons so execpected. Great food & great service 👍.

Well it’s a Wetherspoons, so you know what to expect if you have ever been to one before. We went for breakfast two days on the run whilst staying at a hotel in Hoylake. The traditional breakfast was nicely cooked and served on a hot plate which is good. Had refill hot drinks which were also good. There were lots of different seating options, we chose cosy areas. As always, there was some nice local history to look at on the walls and the one off carpet to admire (for those of you that don’t know this, the carpets are made especially for each pub). The staff were lovely guys one of which actually noticed that we were back for a second day.

Update Oct 2022. The food in spoons is no longer good value. Food quality poor (burnt hash browns), food presentation is abysmal, service perfunctory. The place was heaving, the staff were rushed off their feet, my food order was delayed, the Weatherspoon's app is a nightmare... but I still managed to enjoy my (first) visit to Hoylake Lights. My mixed grill was acceptable. The cask ales were superb and served in excellent condition, a real unexpected bonus, particularly as I only paid an astonishing £1.95 per pint. My first visit, but not my last.
