I visited the venue today. As per government guidelines I scanned the QR code to check in. I was then told I had to leave my contact details on a piece of paper as well and that this was mandatory. As a single woman living alone, I feel very unsafe leaving my details on paper so I left. Covid guidelines in England on contact tracing states that if a customer chooses to use the QR code to check into a venue, you SHOULD NOT ask them for their contact details as well. Such a shame as it has always seemed like a really nice pub, but they do not appear to be following guidelines on the use of codes to check in correctly and I do not feel they should be forcing customers especially women to leave details on a piece of paper if they do not want to. This is why there are QR codes; to keep people's details private and secure. I have given 2 stars still as the venue was well organised , very clean and well spaced out and the staff...
Read moreThe Gari as it is fondly referred to by locals is probably the best pub in the area. Open to all, with friendly staff, a great selection of Lagers, beers, ciders, spirits, and wines, along with a great menu boasting wholesome 'pub' food and freshly prepared specials, and daily deals. Monday's include a real ale offer at a great price opening up visitors to a variety of locally produced Beers. The publican is friendly and endeavours to make everyone's visit as enjoyable as possible, getting to know the regulars, and organising charity events, hog roasts, a beer festival, and popular calendar events like Halloween parties and New Year's celebrations, with local bands providing great live music. There is nothing to complain about here other than I don't live close enough to...

I had no option but to buy additional unwanted drinks to put the bill over £10 as I didn't have any cash on me. it's the only place I've been to in a very long time that won't accept payments under a certain amount, and even then its usually less than £3. In this day and age that's not exactly customer friendly. Yes it costs the business money for taking card payments, but it's usually around 0.5% which equates to 2.5p on a £5 taking. If it's costing the management more - they really should...
