The Surrey — Restaurant in Woking

Probably the worst experience in a pub I’ve ever been to. My best friend and I came here for lunch with my newborn. The staff don’t even acknowledge you at the bar and pretend you don’t exist. We sat at table 4 for half an hour, even after ordering food to which a member of staff came over and said we had to move because there was a party, no reservation sign or anything. I made them aware that I’d ordered food to which she replied ‘dw I’ll let the team know’. Little did we know this wasn’t communicated with the staff. After an hour and a half we asked what was going on with our food as people were being served before us who came in much later after us. The staff said they would look and offered us free nachos. I will upload the free ‘nachos’ now. These nachos we also had to ask again for after 10 minutes. The team are rude, lack communication skills and clearly forgot about our food. I went up to ask for a refund but the food finally arrived after an hour and 15 mins. The food was little to nothing on the plate and looked like it had been chucked on there. I would never recommend this place to anyone. It’s poorly run, clearly down to management and the level of service is appalling. Now my mother was one of those people who said if you have nuffin nice to say then say nuffin. But I just can't do it in this case because I feel something needs to be said/done. So hear goes I did rate this place with five stars previously but after the refurbishment and new management I would of thought it would of been even better than before. I was wrong it's very under staff an this has made the food suffer I've never been one not to clear my plate but on this occasion on my mixed grill everything was dry and tasted old the chips where soggy and the salad looked like it was in the sun for half the day. My daughter had a kids meal witch was a burger and it was so over cooked and small she turned her nose up at it an my baby never turns down a burger. An now for the ribs which my girlfriend had wellllll I've never seen something so dry an plain in all my life. I think I would of had more flavour from a bag of sawdust. So rant over honestly was genuinely really disappointed in wot was served I really hope they address the staff issues an sort out an actual chef otherwise that expensive refurbishments was a waste of...

Christmas Dinner

We went for Christmas dinner and arrived early, but the staff were very accommodating and sat us down immediately. The food was served very quickly, however it could have bern warmer. We had to ask for one for dinners to be put in the microwave as the person had gone to the bar and, was waiting 10 minutes to be served drinks! It would appear that the waiter and waitresses were covering the bar, as well as waiting on customers.

The food was quantity over quality!. To see the amount was very overwhelming. The turkey was dry and tasted like processed meat. The vegetables were overcooked. The cheese fondue was a lump of camembert melted, but not thoroughly, served with some pita bread and dried up carrots and cucumber.

The staff that were there were pleasant and couldn’t do enough, but would I go for a Christmas dinner again? I don’t think so!

I am sure that under normal circumstances, the food and service would be different and will try again.
