Oddfellows

As it was a Friday night, the establishment was very busy and as we had not booked a table we were informed that the wait would be about an hour. As we had enjoyed our last visit and were celebrating our wedding anniversary, we decided that the wait would be worth it. And so it proved. We reported back at the reception desk at the time requested and a table was waiting for us, cleaned and freshly laid. A gentleman approached us soon after we had been seated and greeted us and apologized that the menu would be depleted by several items due to the extraordinary demand on their restaurant services that had been experienced over the previous few days. He was polite, yet jovial and once our drinks order had been taken and served, he then took our order for the Starter (a shared dish of Nachos accompanied by a variety of dips and chille con carni) followed by Scampi and chips for myself and a honey glazed ham hock, with peas and salad for my wife. Both courses were served without delay and were delicious, although in the case of my wife's choice, such was the size of her Ham Hock she was unable to finish it in one sitting and asked for a container so that we could take it home. This was duly done and we left the establishment, fully satiated and with the feeling of having really enjoyed ourselves. The prices had sadly, but understandably, increased since our last visit, however, we still felt that the evening was excellent value for money. Our thanks to the management and staff of the Oddfellows Hall in Compton, Wolverhampton for making our evening memorable.
