My experience was poor, I ordered food for my 2 children, the one meal came out on a sizzling plate for a 9 year old. At this point I pointed out this should not of happened to my partner as I was not at the table at the time, I called the server over called lidia, I only found out her name from another employee here as she refused to give her first name, when she came over to the table I expressed my concern that a child of this age should not have a sizzling hot skillet plate, lidias response at this was you never asked me too, me and my partner at this point found it really rude, after a discussion I went to the bar to express my feelings about this, the bar man listened and I asked for a pen and her name he told me and gave me a pen, I asked lidia how to spell her name, her response was I’m not untitled to give my name I found this very rude, I then asked for the manager and Lidia said she was the manager, so at this point I was appalled at how I was treated, I went back to the table told my partner what happened and got the children to leave, my partner then asked who the server was, my partner expressed her concerns over this and we were told that as customers, that we should read the terms and conditions and it’s not up too the staff to express any concerns about a hot plate that could hurt a child, my partner was extremely taken back from what was said, as a customer we are there to be taken care of not to be just a number, anyway the story continues, the children at this point were extremely uncomfortable and I had to take them outside, my partner stayed to express her feelings, the lady Lidia who my partner spoke to said it’s up to a customer to request this, now I’m sorry but we didn’t know and as a business you should have your customers concern at the front of your business and your company name, after my partner was then feeling intimated as another member of staff had the same attitude as the first who was the manager on shift, my partner said I will be taking this further and the staff members said I look forward too it, Now I’m not been funny but if this is how they treat people who just stress a concern, then I think some back house training is needed, I have reported this to Mitchell’s and butlers, as I’m discussed how staff can just put customers feedback or feelings to one side, I will be making another report on this when they get back to me as this is a disgrace to the company name. I’ve had to edit this post as 15 minutes after posting this I had a phone call from the pub owner jack, and I was told on the phone that apparently I was aggressive and was raising my voice and swearing at the bar to get attention about my complaint, this is not the case at all, I was very calm and so was my partner, I felt this phone call was disrespectful and uncalled for, also to be lied to on the phone about my actions that were not true in the slightest, when all I’m doing is telling the truth on a review. If this is standard practice for a company to have this behaviour towards customers that are just voicing there experience then I discourage anyone to leave a review in future as it’s pointless because all you will get is an underhanded phone call filled with lies and not dealt with by true events that actually happened. I will pursue my complaint to head office and I will be editing my post to let the public know what they are going to do too change this behaviour and what they are going to implement to make sure not just myself but any other person is not treated in this manner. this is my updated review, I’m now banned from the chestnut for making a complaint about the staff, as I said earlier in my review I discouraged anyone to do this, the mangers exact words were I wasn’t there so I can’t comment, not been pedantic but where was the investigation in to my complaint? if this was an actual lie from myself I would not be wasting my time or effort to continue with this, I called head office over 5 days ago and I’m still waiting for a phone call! And a valid reason why leaving a review is frowned upon

Both me and my hubby love it here food is so amazing and all the staff work so hard to please all customers nothing is never to much hassel for them. Nice environment to be in this is our new local. I'm also happy you do not have to wear a mask and things feel normal when coming here and they do not keep coming over to you when you are eating and asking if everything is ok when you have your mouth full of food and trying to speak with your mouth full is hard and rude the staff just leave you alone which is a massive thing for me and my hubby as the saying goes if there was any problems I would call or go to a member of staff if there was a problem and there asnt been as of yet and we really do like coming here. See you again next fri and can't wait already.

Delicious food, good selection of cask ale and a smart recent refurbishment put The Chestnut Tree head and shoulders above other Sizzling Pubs in the area. I'd go as far as to say The Chestnut Tree is probably the best M&b pub in Wolverhampton at the time of writing. During my January 2020 visit, I sampled two ales in perfect condition - Sharp's Cornish Winter and Adnams' Mosaic, tucked into a superb Katsu Chicken skillet (my wife had Spiced Chicken Fajitas - also beautiful). Food came out in 15 / 20 minutes and staff were friendly with good knowledge of available food and drink. On this showing, I will be back soon.

Update - 26/08/22

We visited this evening our 30th Wedding Anniversary celebration meal. As usual, the staff were very friendly and attentive. Our meals were again up to the high standards that we have come to expect. As we were celebrating, we splashed out on desserts and I'm so glad we did. My daughter had a sticky chocolate pudding which filled the plate. My wife and myself had the Eton Mess Sundae. Very creamy with Strawberries which were so sweet. Halfway down the glass the merangue provided the crunch. If I could give The Chestnut a further star, I certainly would.

Update - 02/01/2022.

Have just been back to the Chestnut Tree for lunch. Once again I cannot find fault with the pub, staff or the meals we ordered. The steak I had was cooked to exactly how I like it and my wife's salmon was a really good size and melted when cut. We did wait for some time for our order to arrive but we expected this for a Sunday lunchtime and they were busy. It is advisable at this this time to book a table. I look forward to eating here again the next time I'm in the Midlands.

This was the first time I'd been back since the new extension. The food here has always been good but as usual for expectations were high. For a Monday afternoon the eating area was very busy, but we managed to get a table. The place was clean and tidy and a member of staff was busy clearing and cleaning tables as soon as they became vacant. We chose our meals from and extensive but not expensive menu and we're asked whilst ordering if we had any dietary requirement, this was the first time we've ever been asked in any eating place we've visited. We did have a slight wait, but like I said, they were busy. The meals themselves were fairly substantial though my side salad did contain far too much lettuce. I found the staff to be very friendly and extremely helpful. Will definitely be enjoying another meal here next time I visit the area. A lovely place for...

I booked a table for my daughter 3rd birthday on Wednesday 12th August at 7.00pm. My husband ordered a steak and my daughter ordered a breakfast. When the meals came out I asked the waitress the steak and breakfast should be on sizzlers and the replie we got was we not doing sizzlers because of covid we got no apology. Then when I asked we ordered a salad with the meal the reply we got from the waitress was I only got one pair of hands. I had a chicken roast it was all brunt and very dry. Our desserts came out with dirty main meals plates still on the table and the waiting staff seemed to be bothered about cleaning tables were customers have left rather than clean tables were customers were still dinning. As it was my daughters birthday we brought in a cake when I asked the waiter for a knife to cut the cake he replied I can not give you a knife because they were closing at 10.15 and it was 10.00 then I asked the waitress for a knife she replied sorry the kitchen is closed in the end I used my daughter plastic spoon to cut the cake then the waitress decided to bring a knife out. The waiting staff were rude and unprofessional and there did not seem to be a manger on duty to supervisor them. I would not recommend this restaurant shame really because the restaurant is really nicely...
