The Brooko??? More like the bloody Crooko!! After being a customer at this tidy little coffee shop for nearly two years, I am disappointed to write such a dampening review of the establishment. As we work over the road, the shop is great to order a sandwich through ready for collection. But, if you order any more than 3 or 4 sandwiches they seem to go into full bore panic mode and stress that the order is too much and they can't house it. There has also been a few incidents where we have rung up, and the girl on the other end of the phone asks the 'chef' "Are we ok to do this order", then on the phone you can overhear the mumbles and the grumbles as if they don't want the business. As we used to go on a general basis of every Friday and Saturday morning, you would think they would want to be able to make room for your order. They also open late (as in they state they open at 8am, but sometimes when you ring you can only get through at about 8:20am). This is especially annoying when we are trying to ring an order through with about 5+ sandwiches because then they of course use the old line "ohh well we are really busy today so we can't do it". One Saturday morning, like any other, we rung through, only to receive the message "Sorry we are not taking orders today because Chef is hungover and doesn't feel well." It felt like we were causing an inconvenience to them that they had an order, which is their job. They have a reluctance to feed the working class. In addition, well after a year of going there, we went into the shop the one time, ate in, then went upto the counter to pay and they asked for £4.25 for a Bacon, Sausage and Egg sandwich, only because they had upped the sandwich prices without telling us and then said "ohh yeah we have changed the menu". It is also £5.30 for a BEST. Thus forcing us to create the name "The Crook". We thought the price was fairly expensive in the first place, but then when they put them up because they "weren't making enough on sandwiches" was absolutely absurd, especially when the quality of the sausage reduced. It is almost as if they don't want people to have a sandwich in there, probably because it is too much hassle. Im sorry that it had to end like this but I feel you have driven me to it. I have now officially de-authed...

This place is great, I go for the Brook Breakfast. 2 Eggs done perfect, 2 bacon rashers, 2 tasty sausage, tomatoes and 2 large toasted and buttered pieces of tiger loaf. Whats not to like, food always hot, staff always friendly. Wide range of food on menu. Covid rules are strictly adhered to. P. S, Check out their cake selection. P. P. S Try the Pulled Pork Tiger loaf sandwich /13cm Bap (see pictures) Pulled Pork, Stuffing, Apple sauce and gravy UPDATE: Collected today an Afternoon Tea takeaway for 5 people. Totally fresh Sandwiches, Pork Pies, Sausage rolls, Quiche and much more. A variety of Sandwiches and Cakes. Great Value and Quality. See picture, shows all of quantity the cakes provided but only part of the savouries and sandwiches as we kept some in fridge until required.

UPDATE: Christmas afternoon tea. 2022 Went for Christmas afternoon tea today. See photos. Missing from the pictures are the Scones Jam and Clotted cream, also a few more cakes which we consumed before photographing. I'm more of a food guy than photographer I'm afraid. Great price, friendly staff, meal comes with endless tea/coffee. What you can't eat will be boxed for you...

Visited yesterday for the first time. Was conveniently located from where I was. Went in, got a table straight away. Opted for the 2nd largest breakfast. Was not disappointed. The toast was to die for. A mug of tea enough for 2 cups, the breakfast was divine can't fault it. Asked on multiple occasions if things were okay, or if I needed anything else. It wasn't busy the time I went which made the experience more pleasant although business wasn't sparse with people having takeout orders. Generous cuts of black pudding, sausages were of nice quality. Bacon also good although not a personal favorite of mine. Eggs done perfectly. Nothing was burnt at all, establishment was to high quality. Quaint in size but very lovely. Can't fault it at all and will be visiting next...

We discovered The Brook on our way across town, had a little bit of a wait to be seated due to social distancing which they were managing very well & another 25 -30 mins for the food but enjoyed 2 lovely breakfasts with drinks here. Everything was made exactly as we requested (forgot to take a pic but they were nicely presented and all freshly done). Friendly and attentive staff. Awesome hot chocolate!
