The Botanist Worcester was the chosen location for our wedding afternoon lunch yesterday as we had a small ceremony in Worcester Town and wanted to celebrate with our family and friends over lunch.
We chose the Botanist as when we scouted all over Worcester for the best looking venue with the best menu choice for a large party, The Botanist was a clear choice and we have to say, it was definitely the right choice as everything was perfect yesterday!
It is a stunning venue with a plant and dark wood themed interior with a massive decorative bar and bar seating and even more plants and beautiful seating outside as well where you can overlook Cathedral square and have a direct view of Worcester cathedral. My now husband likes plants (we have a house full of them) 😅 so that was a massive plus and one of the reasons we chose the venue, it’s just so photogenic and visually pleasing which was very pleasing to our photographer as well who was able to get so many amazing shots.
All our guests complimented the food saying the flavours were perfect and presentation was excellent. The delivery of our pre-ordered food was very fast from when we arrived and many guests complimented the speed of the food arrival.
I cannot end this review without saying a massive thank you to the staff. Everyone was so kind and understanding yesterday and we really felt like you were there for us ready to take action.
I have worked in hospitality before for many years and know when the staff are well trained and good at the job and that’s an understatement for the Staff here, they really are so kind and helpful.
Libby at the central management team was there from the start to answer all of our questions and help arrange everything which there was a lot of but despite that, they were very understanding of all of our requests and responded to our needs and queries quickly.
John the manager at the venue was also very helpful the last few days before our big day helping us arrange the seating plan and checking when our Friend would arrive with the cake, etc, and on the day was there to ensure everything went to plan.
To all of the other staff as well, thank you for putting up with us (my mad family 😂) And your hospitality and customer service was fantastic.
If you are looking for a visually pleasing, cosy food venue with amazing food and top Of the range service, this is the place...
Read moreBooked the private area at The Botanist Worcester on the 3/5/25 for a colleagues hen party. The food was arranged and booked from a set menu several weeks earlier. Initially, we were very well attended by the servicing staff but once the bar got busy it was a different story. Maybe a member of staff should have been allocated to attend to people in the private function area? We were encouraged to use a single QR code to create a tab for the group which we were assured would be separated at the end of the night. The QR code is “new” according to the staff who have had very little training in how to use it. Safe to say you could look to Wetherspoon's for inspiration as the version available last night was totally useless. Waiting over 30 minutes for some drinks to arrive. The music was excessively loud and made it difficult to hear the staff when they were around the table. As for the set menu….. At £24.95 and several weeks to prepare I was very disappointed with the offering. Chicken schnitzel (dry and oily), apple and celeriac slaw and what could only be described as a small measure cup of “oily green”, still not sure it tasted much of garlic. The after taste is still lingering. This was accompanied by chips that were translucent and oily. Cookie Dough and Ice cream for dessert. Initially hopefully my hopes were dashed with the grainy texture and taste of uncooked flour. Between courses members of the party politely asked staff to clear the table, provide appropriate cutlery and asked after long forgotten drinks. When I left the manager had to get involved with sorting the bill as all the items had been individually items as not put through as set courses. The table staff were great but struggling over the workload and volume of patrons. At the end of the night the staff appeared frazzled by the attitude of the manager. Safe to say I popped into McDonald’s on...
Read moreWent for a Sunday roast lunch with my vegan partner (I am not vegan myself). Restaurant is nicely decorated with a good atmosphere. Our server was a really friendly and very helpful person, and overall service including order taking, and time to delivery of food to the table was well above the average British restaurant experience.
We ordered a roast beef meal for me, and their vegan equivalent for my partner. Initially the server advised us her tablet was showing out of stock of the vegan option, but after we discussed going somewhere else which could provide a vegan meal, she went the extra mile, spoke to the kitchen directly and they were able to somehow find one of the vegan meals....
When the food was delivered we were given a shared bowl of potatoes, and another of vegetables. There wasn't...an awful lot of either which we thought was a bit mean. Since this visit my partner has been back to the restaurant for a Sunday roast of her own and the potatoes and green vegetable quantity she alone got for that meal looked to be the exact same quantity we had to share. Not best pleased by this.
What I will say, is what food we were given for our £20+ two course deal was very nice indeed. I just wish we had been given what we paid for. Also - and this is not just for this restaurant, but for others too - here in Britain, there's not many people who eat a sunday roast who DONT want it swimming in gravy, or at least be given the option. The pathetic dribble of gravy in our gravy boats was simply not enough. Sure, we could have asked for more but that's not the point - sufficient quantity should be provided at the start.
Overall, I'll give this restaurant 4 stars for the service and the quality of food, but as my review above shows, it wasn't perfect...
