If you’re looking for a pint and watch the football then it’s great. If you’re going for food you won’t have a good experience. We’ve been coming to this pub for years and it’s just getting worse. Serving staff was up front that we would have an hour wait on food (even though we had booked to come). We waited the hour but had to move tables because of another table being so loud we couldn’t talk to each other. It was apparent another table was feeling uncomfortable about the noisy diners. When our food finally arrived the chicken flatbread was very disappointing. Cold, missing bits, looked nothing like the picture. The chips are over cooked. We got a refund for the flatbread. However the kitchen closed whilst we were eating. So when we went to order desserts at the end, the server was obviously disgruntled that we weren’t happy with the food and decided to tell us that they can’t do us any desserts despite the other server saying he shouldn’t have said no and she would’ve taken out dessert order. We were aware of the lowering standards of the restaurant and service in this pub but decided to come anyway as our grandmother has recently lost her husband and has Alzheimer’s and would appreciate some family time in a familiar setting however the experience was not good and left our grandmother upset upon leaving. The young lady that was serving was very pleasant and apologetic about our experience. The other server has the customer service quality of an ash tray. As mentioned we’ve been a visitor to this pub for years and I genuinely avoid trying to be served by this man. I’ve also learnt the only thing that can’t come out of the kitchen too wrong...
Read moreBirthday Meal ruined will not be back soon… Was my son’s birthday on Boxing Day so we usually go for pub dinner. We usually go yeoman but we decided the mulberry would be better. We had our table booked for 5pm as we had 4 kids so we didn’t want a late one. When we arrived we handed in the cake and sat down. No crackers which was weird as we had crackers the last time I came (which was last week for a friendly group Christmas doo and my experience was so much different!) apparently 3 chefs had called in sick I mean at this point just cancel all your bookings tbh! But no they decided they could do it! 3 staff tending the bar and waitress .. just no! Starters came out well not a problem.. then about half an hour later mains finally but cold awful tastes awful nasty! By now it’s 6.30 pm so we are waiting and waiting, it’s now 7pm we hadn’t been asked if we wanted any sauces or if anything was okay. just not good enough tbh! So puddings arrived (half of them) whist half of us tucked in the other half waited another 10 minutes for the other desserts to come out. Buy now it’s pushing on 8pm we decided to call it a night and get the little ones back and just ask for the cake back! Awful experience would never ever go there again! If you don’t have chefs do your selves a favour and cancel the bookings don’t put your selves or staff or customers though that! Just...
Read moreMy wife an I (both in our 60's) took our grand children to the Mulberry Goring as a Sunday (15th May) treat. When we arrived for our 5 clock booking the place was pretty full on and the kitchen door was swinging open shut non stop so it was busy. As usual the bar staff and waiting staff are always helpful and nice but we waited quite a while to get surved and even longer to get our food. We're not impatient but you can only keep 2x kids settled for so long. However that was not our complaint - it was the food!, we'd "starved ourselves all day to enjoy a meal out but was so disappointed with it. We ordered 2x roast dinners which included sliced beef from a packet I suspect which was so rubbery that I had a job cutting or chewing it many roast potatoes were overdone and too solid to cut and the mash was like a sort of packet putty. One of the meals was a chick veggie option in a bun-I attempted to bite into it but instead withdrew the "chicken" part and tapped it on the the wooden table top and it sounded like wood on wood. I could add more about the food but I'm sure we've made the point.the next day we ate at the Perch on worthing pier-more expensive but delicious. the 2 x green king pubs my wife and I used in Northampton last year were an absolute joy to eat at. Why should the standards be so different?...... Its because of what goes on in...
