West Side Creamery — Restaurant in Acton

The ice cream is fine, hit or miss service. They’re veeeeery confused in there. Do NOT put in an online order, especially through a service like Door Dash. We did, our driver never picked it up so I called to ask if it was still there. The woman on the phone walked over to check and confirmed it was there. She looked with her eyes and saw it while I was on the phone with her. By the time my husband arrived and waited in line to pick it up, the order had vanished. Nothing in the cooler, they’d never heard of it, and they claimed there was no record of it coming through on door dash. Which was fun given that he was standing there with receipt in hand from the app. Door dash wont offer a refund because we opted to go get it ourselves so we just threw away money I guess. First time here. I ordered a couple of chocolate frappes. Seems simple enough. What could go wrong? Turns out plenty when an ice cream place doesn’t have any chocolate ice cream that’s not frozen solid and inaccessible. The kid who was helping me, stood there for 10 minutes chipping away tiny bits from an overly frozen container of chocolate ice cream. Why a busy ice cream place in the middle of the day wouldn’t have chocolate ice cream on the ready is beyond me. Finally had to agree to something else if I didn’t want to wait for a half a hour for a chocolate frappe....

It is a pretty new place, and it was open in 2019. I noticed that the owner hires local high school students, which is very nice. Staff is very polite and helpful. You can try ice cream prior to ordering that is very helpful. I didn't see any unusual flavors, which was pretty much standard, but I noticed that the size of portions was significantly larger than usual. I had a standard frappe, and it was just ok. My daughter had a float, and she liked it, so I probably was not lucky. I will try it next time and hope...
