We now plan our vacation around JD's BBQ. 5 years ago on our annual pilgrimage from Cleveland Ohio to Florida after Christmas, we started getting hungry for dinner in northern Georgia and I always have it in my mind that in the South, I want BBQ. Thanks to Google, I found a place but it was closed through the new year. Again thanks to Google we found JD's. The Brisket Quesadilla, the fried corn, the slaw, the fried pickles were all so excellent and of course all the meats were so well done. The atmosphere is cozy and cool. We were treated so well. So the next year we went back...and the next year...and the next year. So now we make that our halfway point. We get hotel in the area and have dinner at JD's. Its part of our vacation that we look forward to every year!

The place was not crowded, and the service was slow but very friendly. The barbecue helping was very large, but room temperature at best. We ordered two peach cobblers to go at the end of the meal. When I got home and opened the container I was disappointed to find that one was about three bites And mostly bread. Neither were five dollar helpings of cobbler. I called to complain but they had closed, and the answering machine did not come on. I will call tomorrow to request a refund on the peach cobbler. They were pitiful servings and there were hardly any peaches in the cobbler, but we still tipped 19%. Total bill with tip for 2 people was $65.95.

Excited to try JD’s bbq. Arrived with no line and waited 5 min for anyone to acknowledge us. Had to ask a waitress, who saw us, and was busy showing photos on her phone, if we were to seat ourselves. She found someone to seat us. Ordered a beer from the tap and was told it had changed to a different beer. Fine. Excited to order, food looked great. The waitress came to take our order and we told her our order only to be told they were out of the 3 main items we wanted. No brisket, no hush puppies, no baked beans and no hot dog buns. What?! Really disappointing. We were so looking forward to eating here and left disheartened. 😕

I have travel to many places to find good barbecue, nothing come close to a place in Willison,Nc. Jd’s is a family own biz,I’ve been a loyal participant for about 5 year when coming to JD, staff is friendly and as you look around, you noticed that this location is an old school house, and it still has it charm of squeaky floor board. The food is good, large portion enough to feed 2 or 3 ppl “ depending if you’re eating for yourself or you have your significant other with you.” I understand that owner opt businesses need the support of the community in order for them to thrive.

However, let talk about the menu and your options of payment. The biggest change today is price of food, a pork plate with 2 side cost about $16.00 with a drink expect to pay 20 bucks for a meal. When you receive your check, you have two options option one pay cash or option to pay with debit or credit. When you look at your check, you’ll see two different price quotes and your say wait a moment this doesn’t like right ? Cash option show $16.00 and. Your credit/debt show $16.85. It turns out that when you’re studying the menu, you are seeing cash price of your purchase. And because of the credit card fees, those are being passed down to you if you choose the credit card option to pay for your meal. I personally do not like how the check summarizes your method of payment. I feel that the options of payment is Calculated wrong. I feel that you need to list the prices of your items based on how the menu describes them at the end of your summary you should be given the same two options. But you have a more defined understanding what the price difference is instead of putting the price difference into the menu item by itself. I feel that is bad business to change the price when comparing the receipt with the menu. I believe management and ownership should change the format of how they are pricing out their food, and delivering the cost to its customers. additional fees should be at the end of the receipt and not a subject to the food items they are selling. also note J D’s has great food. I feel that if you are losing out due to food causes aren’t arise your portion control is your only subjective of maintaining what you are selling by volume.

I note to those that read this post until J D’s makes a change on how it’s handing you the receipt. My cost saving advice is to always come here with cash you’re paying way too much extra when using your debit or credit card because the costs are going to you for the transaction fees.

I note to the owners : If you’re not liking your current credit card company, I would switch credit card companies because there are some out there that have no fees attached. if certain brand credit cards or debit cards are costing the company money such as American Express, I wouldn’t except them. I hope you will review how you’re charging the customers if you need help, I suggest you get in touch with Robert Irvine Maybe he can help you with your...

NEED TO CHANGE CATERING MANAGER!! ROSSI DOES NOT NEED TO BE IN THIS POSITION. I sent my first email March 1st for catering March 18th. I had to call to get a response 6 days later. Any email I sent was never replied to unless I called days later. Then when the food was agreed upon the price was tripled for an item. I called for them to send the correction, because again the email was never responded to, so I could confirm the order and was told it was being handled. I went in the day before our event to check my order. The girls seemed surprised and asked if it was for another location. Going through the catering book 5 times as if it would magically appear Barbara came in to save the day. Surprisingly before that I told the girl behind the bar that the price for 3 ribs was tripled at $180 and she looked seeing they were $20 a piece saying I am not so sure. Looking at my wife like "is she serious" she actually used the register to multiply 3x20 to realize it was not 180, lol. Some people can't math but wow. Anyways Barbara set me all up and had us ready for the next day. THEY NEED TO MAKE BARBARA THE CATERING MANAGER BECAUSE ROSSI CAN'T DO HER JOB. Nearly 3 weeks trying to get a catering order and I had to walk in the day before and place it. Glad we decided not to trust Rossi. Harsh I know but she could ruin people's events and is completely incompetent when it comes to catering. If I would've shown up the next day and there was no food there would've been problem. Food was great by the way and Barbara was assisting me with anything else I needed that day, she was great. If they change their catering manager then I may give back their five star.

Now here is my initial review regardless of how Rossi almost ruined our party: The best BBQ in Acworth!!! Brisket that melts in your mouth and rivals my Mom's. Being from South Texas that's almost sacrilege but it's true. They have a hot sauce I thought would go great on wings and low and behold they have wings too! Cooked perfectly crispy the only way to have them. I love the venue as well,...

We go to JD's about once a month or so and have never had a bad experience. Most of the time that we have gone, it hasn't been too busy, but this time, when we pulled up, there were barley any parking spots. I just want to state that we had some of the best service here last night then we get in most any other restaurants. People are so quick to place a review when they get bad service, but the 3 girls that were serving need to be recognized for working together and taking care of a full dining room. The place was packed, only a few tables open when we got there, but we were greeted and seated right away by very pleasant wait staff. To be honest, my wife and I considered going some place else because of how busy it was and thought that we were going to get bad service. It was very much the opposite of that I am I am glad we stayed. Our server was at our table to get our drinks and take our order right away. She got our drinks to us within minutes. But it doesn’t stop there because there are 2 teams that make a place like this work, front of house and back of house. We ordered an appetizer and the kitchen had it out to us in what couldn’t have been more than 5 to 7 min. and it was hot and fresh!!! And the most awesome cheese sticks I have ever had. They are the size of chicken fingers!!! Our meal came out in probably less than 10 minutes after the appetizer came out. Again, hot, fresh and correctly made how it was ordered. Kudos to the kitchen and the server for placing the order how it was requested. Our server was attentive to our drinks being refilled and checking in on us to make sure everything was good. It was a great experience and great watching those 3 young ladies working hard and keeping their cool. They deserve to...
