I've gone to the Elmhurst location since they opened, and today May 9, 2023 went to use the gift card I received for my birthday in March. The young lady told me, they don't take gift cards, can only use at addison location which is 18 minutes away. Elmhurst is 3 minutes away. PUT UP A HUGE SIGN NO CILANTRO GIFT CARDS ACCEPTED. I met the 2 brothers at this location as well as the mom and they always welcomed me with a smile. But now I will no longer go to this location or any other Cilantro locations. I can't return the card and I'm not confident the Addison location will take it. So I now have to call and investigate this before I drive and waste my time. If you're selling gift cards please change it so it says can only be used at ADDISON location. Long time customer no longer!🤬🤬🤬
Today is May 10, I reached out to the location in Elmhurst and I was told to ask for Cristian as the owner replied who replied to my review asked fo me to do. Guess what, I was told no Cristian and the person hung up. I'm DONE!. my business is going elsewhere. there are several restaurants in Elmhurst that serve tacos. Loyal customer since they first came to Elmhurst, but I wont visit any of their other locations either. You sell Cilantro gift cards, they should be able to take them as payment. Sadly, I can't take the $25 gift card back. My son purchased it from Jewel in March for my birthday.
MONDAY May 15, 2023 Checked with my son and he thinks he purchased the Cilantro gift card at Elnhurst location because Jewel was out, either way, I mailed the $25 gift card to a friend who lives in Addison since I couldn't use a gift card at the location 5 minutes from me. When I reached out to the email I received that says owner after my Google review to reach out to Cristian at the Elmhurst location and they said no one by Cristian and hung up on me, my decision was made. Will never visit another Cilantro location. By the way a Facebook post popped up when they had the grand opening. Like I mentioned in earlier response I was a long time customer BUT...

I had to go to my car and see if I a water bottle to rinse off the soap smh then I grab my food.. I ordered 4 tacos 1 carnita 1 al pastor 2 steak tacos. The carnita one taste like old meat like it’s been in the fridge and not fresh. Pork goes bad fast it can make you sick. I spit it right bck out no good. Then I try the Al pastor the meet was extra toasted like if it was cut already and sitting on the plancha for a while. So from my 4 tacos I only ate two. I’m done with cilantro taco grill they are pricey and the tacos are two small for the amount of money you paying I spend 20 bucks for two tacos I ordered basically. (((NO SIGNS...
Read moreI used to take my son here every Friday. We would order steak tacos, steak tortas and pork tamales. One time I became very sick after eating the tamales. I stopped eating here but my son kept asking every Friday for cilantro steak tacos, so I would take him and not order anything for myself..... Then one Friday after he ate the steak tacos He became very sick. We stopped eating here. FYI. There tamales are precooked and then microwaved to order. the steak is Pre grilled and stored in a pan under the cook top. When you order they are just warming up pre cooked meat. If you show up after the lunch rush. And there is still a pile of meat sitting on the the cook top. That’s what you get.... old meat and old tamales. Ps. The ladies behind the counter...
