I am very upset to have to make this review. It is not safe for poc, women, or lgbtq. I had originally gone in early 2023, and the owner was incredibly sexist towards me and my other female friend. He basically told us that women should have no rights. The food was over priced and disappointing, but the drinks were ok. I went back because a friend had told me that the place got better. We walk in and it was dead silent, the bartender said hello and was nice enough. The place was empty except for 2 regulars and the people we came to meet. I ordered a drink, and they didn't have the liquor for it and blamed it on being a tiki bar, fine. It took at least 10 mins to get a drink. They ignored my friend for 15mins who was trying to order food. I finally interrupted the bar tender to get a mai tai. It was extremely strong and did not taste good. The night went on and the owner kept making jokes about racism and disabilities, it was loud and uncomfortable. Then someone walked in and they greeted him like a regular. This customer used the hard R in reference to the bartender. They all laughed about it and made racist jokes to each other. They were loudly yelling about how women should not have rights and how gay people should not be alive. This is where I paid and left. While I was paying they made jokes about how "they shouldn't be talking about this infront of a customer" and tried to get me in on the joke as the other customer continued to say that gay people are the F and T slurs and they should end their lives.
I was not welcome, I am disgusted, I am furious. This was not a safe environment. This place should...
Read moreGave owners 2 weeks to call /email to rectify a private party that was done at this poor excuse of an establishment! Trying to make this as short as possible. Owner did not deliver on his promises of any party arrangements/food we discussed. DEMANDED money in front of everyone screaming to everyone about wanting money NOW. People offered credit cards to hold to keep him quiet til the person paying showed up. This was a surprise party keep in mind. BDay girl and person who is paying for party was bringing her was on their way. Once he received money gave 2 trays of wings, raw rice and at end of party fries for $400!!! Should have known better. Places dont ask for money before services like that typically. Deposit maybe.... Owner was drunk, taking shots, puffing on his vape, pacing to back and making out with some bartender. He also screamed at one of our guests who felt so disgusted she left with her whole family immediately. Story for that is too long to write. HIS OWN staff who was wonderful that night kept apologizing over and over to ALL THE PEOPLE on his behalf. They were mortified because of his behavior. That being said... he got his money he has been silent since... I texted owner and emailed the other owner his brother and nothing.... over 2 weeks. So beware. No apology, no nothing! Sad this place is in my...
Read moreLast Saturday I wanted to go to a tiki bar. So my girlfriend and I went to place in Arlington Heights and had a horrible and I'm sure racist experience. We left before even getting our drink. Feeling discouraged but not wanting to go home empty handed on the way home I Googled "tiki bar" on maps and was directed to Pau Hana; best decision I could've made! Totally made up for my bad experience earlier that night. The atmosphere was immensely pleasant. The bartenders, Stephanie and Katey were a delight. And the food and drink was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!! My girlfriend had a pork bowl, I had buffalo wings half of the order was Kamikaze and half was Hawaiian ( do yourself a favor and try their Hawaiian wings. This was more than just good wings, this was God speaking to me through food.) I'm fairly certain the chef makes his own ranch from scratch. And for drinks we shared a scorpion bowl which was not only delicious but gave me the right amount of buzz. With a belly full of wings and good drink I was feeling nice and toasty. I will definitely be coming...
