My brother and I decided to check out Yorky's on a whim, drawn in by the glistening sign that stood out against the night sky. The ambience upon entering was cozy, with dimmed lights creating a relaxed atmosphere. We approached the counter, and I ordered a simple plain cheeseburger, while my brother opted for a steak sandwich with cheese.
As we settled into our seats, the background noise became apparent, a cacophony of talking and kids' excited screams. The restaurant can't be blamed for the noise, it was clear that some parents could have done a better job instilling discipline in their children.
The food arrived promptly, but my excitement waned when I noticed lettuce in my supposedly plain cheeseburger. Upon closer inspection, I discovered several ingredients I hadn't asked for. Politely, I asked for a correction, and to my surprise, the staff swiftly replaced the burger within just two minutes.
However, my anticipation turned into disappointment after taking the first bite. The intrusive noise of "PTOOO" echoed as I aggressively spit out the unexpected flavors. It seemed like they had simply wiped the burger and put it back on the grill, attempting to salvage it by removing the unwanted ingredients. The result was far from appetizing.
My brother, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy his steak sandwich, and he graciously shared a portion with me. Unfortunately, my taste buds were met with a disappointing combination of meat, processed bread, and American cheese.
Feeling disheartened, I observed the other diners happily savoring their meals. The distraction of corporate ads on the TVs only served to further detach me from the dining experience. We paid our bill and left, and despite the shortcomings in my meal, I won't give Yorky's a one-star rating. The service was commendable, the restaurant was clean, and it seemed like everyone else was having a good time.
In conclusion, Yorky's left me with a mixed experience. The hope remains that if I decide to give it another chance, my future visits will be marked by a more straightforward and enjoyable...
Read moreHow can I put this... review many restaurants. Yorkys is the WORST food in Elmhurst. Yes, that includes McDonald's right up the road. My 6yo huskies literally wouldn't eat their chicken!. Its cheap ingredients not prepared well. I've tried 6 items in my six visits. In a nutshell their food is either over cooked and dry, tasteless, greasy or all of the above. Their soups and salad dressings have a cheap chemical-like flavor. Also this garbage is WAAAAY over priced! I paid $12 for a gyros with no sides and it wasn't even that big! Go to Kabab House in Bensenville. It less expensive and FAR better quality. Yorkys Greek potatoes are greasy and tasteless. Their chicken is NOT boneless so there is very little meat. Their salads are pathetic. Everything here is subpar and expensive. Save yourself and go to Panera Bread. This BLT cost me $10.50!!! TEN bucks for small plain white bread. Basic iceburg lettuce. A very mushy tomato and a few pieces of bacon. I gave this place another try after a over priced below average hot dog. Big mistake. For some reason people go here even though there are much better options in...
