Soulful Street Bites — Restaurant in Addison

This first time I visited there was a young man who had great customer service soon as I walked in and gave service that our folks could trust. I came on a Tuesday and the menu was limited due to some items being only available on specific days of the week. Cool I’m sure the preferred items I wanted were well worth the wait so I will come back another day to try the those items I had my taste buds set on. I then just decided to order something that was available on the menu since I drove from the other side of town. I ordered the chicken wing soul bowl for my girl which came with three sides. I got her candid yams, greens and macaroni and cheese with cornbread. I ordered the brisket Mac n Cheese bowl with barbecue sauce and cornbread crumble on top. I also got the wings in buffalo sauce, a side cheddar broccoli rice, and a side of greens. Let me just say that my order was something not to spectacular. The brisket bowl was mainly cornbread crumble with little to no brisket and hardly any really no macaroni n cheese. All I could really taste was barbecue sauce and the unnecessary cornbread throughout made the bowl dry. I really feel like those bowls are a disguise for old unsold leftovers to push out throughout the week when they are just trying to make a quick buck. The cheddar broccoli rice was not worth it. The cheddar broccoli rice was bland and too cheesy for no reason. The cheese overpowered the consistency of the rice to broccoli ratio. Hint hint just buy the Knorr cheddar broccoli rice sides and and add a little more broccoli cutts to it with a good amount of butter and nobody will be none the wiser and you can push a sure fire side that won’t get complaints. The greens really had no flavor! They could have definitely used more spices and seasoning to enhance the flavor and some kind of vegetable pepper to marinate in while the greens simmer. It’s ok to use a vegetable broth or a good beef broth to simmer the greens in so you can get that instant flavor jumping off. Things were good nice flavor but were shy on the sauce so it really wasn’t much of a sauced wing due to the sauce drying up too fast. My girl didn’t have anything to say about the food because she will eat almost anything with no complaint. I’m a KCMO native so we real picky and critical of food when it doesn’t meet the criteria for the price. 93 dollars with a 5 dollar tip was not worth it!!! Don’t ever spend your money like that at a place you know nothing about it can be disappointing. I feel like social media brings their business but the quality of food won’t hold them their it just misleading propaganda that works for a first time buyer. The second time I went the line was long and I was told to wait outside due to capacity being full inside the restaurant. No biggie. The little lady that was at the door needs customer service training. The host sets the vibe and her vibe was it’s too many of y’all coming and I don’t have time for this. I waited in line with others who were expecting to get what they wanted when reaching the register to place an order. They could’ve at least informed the waiting guests about the items that were unavailable so no one would have to stand in the heat expecting to get something that was unavailable. As I got closer to place an order the waitress who was nice and helpful came back and forth scratching more things off the list that could not be ordered. At this point it was a waste of time to stand in line any longer and get the leftover bowl they were pushing heavy for a good 30 dollars and a organ in tax. I will not return to this establishment. I want to support a black owned business but not to my detriment of being out a hundred dollars and eating low quality food. P.S. the Kool-aid was bussin the blue one that is. Add some pineapple juice to the mix and you just took your kool-aid to the next level. I would’ve at least left with a gallon of that but as too many items that day it was unavailable for purchase. This past Saturday we drove from Houston to visit Dallas and a few ppl suggested his place. When we got to the register to order the lil lady”younger girl” very rude and just blunt! But I said I’ll still order because I wanted to give it a try. I ordered the fried chicken combo, (2) orders of honey bbq wings. Now let me tell you how this horrible food came to us, the wings were just some fried chicken, not tossed and sauce. It was barbecue sauce poured on top of the fried chicken and spots. The entire wing was not covered in honey barbecue sauce. It was just spots of barbecue sauce. Pour on some fried chicken horrible number two thing is I ordered the fried chicken platter with macaroni and cheese The chicken wings. They were just fried no seasoning no flavor no nothing. I left the wings at the hotel that I stayed at the entire time. The food was horrible. The macaroni and cheese was not up to par and I think the thing about we went to some other restaurants in the Dallas area . This restaurant and I should’ve known better. I try to support small black businesses but then you have the representative are the owner of the company gets an attitude because you tell them how you feel then they wanna get smart with you rude with you and that’s perfectly fine perfectly fine But to try to argue with me because I told you that the food was nasty. The presentation was horrible first of all because who in the right mind would just pour barbecue sauce on some fried chicken wings that is unacceptable. I reached out to them Saturday. I called 14 times no one never answered the phone we had already left that area I was staying about 45 minutes away from him so I didn’t bother going back. I started messaging them through their Instagram and an hour after I started messaging them. That’s when I received a response, send pictures of the food number one. No one’s gonna lie to you about their food being nasty disgusting no flavor the presentation. I don’t have that to do. In fact they were the number one spot the first spot that we chose to visit, but then you have The owner get offended because I’m telling her my experience with her restaurant and her staff we again I my personal experience. It was horrible. The food was horrible. It’s overhyped. It’s overrated very overrated very overhyped. My wings had no flavor to them. I think she told me that they marinate and I told her I’m a chef as well so when were they marinated because they should’ve been Dripping with flavor the food was horrible. It was a bad decision that I made to visit. I would not recommend this. This is the worst, the customer service is horrible everybody had an attitude rude. You can hear them, cursing while they were bagging your food talking about other customers that were in there waiting on their food just a bad experience overall very unprofessional and horrible taste. I would not recommend this place. I wouldn’t recommend this place to Stevie Wonder he blind because the food is horrible. It’s really overrated and it’s OK. I’ve been to places that’s been small in the inside, but I haven’t been to places where I hear the employees cursing talking about other customers and so on and so forth and saying you know, just nasty things about customers that’s coming in talking about what customers have on what they’re wearing how they look Saying they don’t need to be eating there because they’re already to big . They were just doing the most and so this is my experience and this is my review I I do not and again understand what I’m saying I do not recommend this place, especially if you cannot voice your opinion without the owner getting offended getting argumentative And just getting real disrespectful and talking reckless to you, I don’t recommend this place. I’m from Louisiana down south where we can really cook. This was an embarrassment. Our family took a trip to Dallas this weekend and with any trip we look for places that’s recommended and sadly we went to this spot. First it’s was not a friendly welcoming although the girl at the front answered questions she was very short with her response which I’m easy going and try my best to be understanding so I over looked that. We sat for a while near the door that you come in and I finally told my son ask her do we have to pick up in another area which we did. I initially said I didn’t need my receipt but later asked for because my total wasn’t adding up that’s when I realized because I paid with my card I was charged more which is something customers should be told. Next I get the food which I had fried ribs, mac and cheese, and mustard greens, a cheesecake, a strawberry cake and a pound cake and a strawberry lemonade. The bag was full of the liquid from the greens because the container clearly wasn’t secure enough to maintain the liquid. So I try the ribs and although tender they lacked flavor, next the mac and cheese no flavor and I like my Mac and cheese creamy and these were not, the mustard green tasted as if they just poured them from a frozen bag and cooked them no flavor not even from the little meat pieces that were added in. The Strawberry lemonade at best they poured premade lemonade from a jug into their machine and the strawberry just came from a bottle they pumped like snowball syrup. And lastly the attitude we got for reaching out complaining and then accused of doing this all the time ma’am you don’t even know us and if your food was up to standards you wouldn’t have even heard from us and this review would of went differently. I pride myself in supporting black owned businesses but this has been a real eye opener. I do have picture of my barely eating food but they are in my sister phone if I’m able to edit and add them later I will. I am unable to reply to the owners comment but let’s be clear I spent $57.xx and was not refunded anything and of the pictures sent you can clearly see my order has the most food that was not eaten. The rude manager refunded my sister $16.xx of the 60 something she spent. So to be clear I was not refunded anything.
