We were looking forward to dining at the establishment since it was close to our vacation rental. As a Yelp Elite member, I pulled up the trusted app to view what was close and this was an option. We wanted to try a different place than the evening before to get a wider range of dining experiences. There is no listing saying that reservations are required, so we proceeded to travel to the location. We were greeted by a guard who took our information and checked out our vehicle. Again, there was no indication or questioning about reservations so we arrived at the parking lot. We walked on the walkway to make the rest of the way around the foliage.
Upon arrival, the host was off to the distance talking to a fellow server. He walked up and looked us up and down with distaste. I simply asked if they had seating for our group. Very scornfully and plainly, he responded, “No.” There was no follow up question to ask if we had reservations. There was no follow up clarification to say that we needed one, or an invitation to come back another night because they couldn’t seat us that particular evening. No smile, no greeting, no apology.
As we were leaving, we asked a young handsome couple if they had made a reservation. They said no. Curious about the curt and dismissive behavior, I also called and asked what time was the last seating for dinner. The person on the phone, someone named Carlos, said their last seating was at 9:00pm. When we had arrived, it was a little before 8:30pm and they were at about 30% capacity, so there was definitely room.
Something I’ve noticed on the island is that many of the younger servers and attendants tend to be very discriminatory and lacking customer service. As a former server, I would never let a potential customer walk away without knowing why we were not able to serve them. The communication and transparency was lacking on many parts: the website does not say reservations are REQUIRED, the Yelp listing has someone managing because it has been claimed yet there is no mention of REQUIRED reservations, the guard who is a part of the Villa Montana resort staff did not ask if we had reservations, and the staff member who I spoke to was HIGHLY dismissive.
I’m sure this is a lovely location as a structure but it is certainly lacking transparency. Please train your staff to be kinder to PAYING CUSTOMERS. Part of Human Resources training should include anti-discriminatory practices so they do not sneer at visiting tourists who make more money than they do. We have a lot friends and family visiting the island in the coming months and we will make certain that they don’t patronize this business.
The experience almost ruined our day. However, we decided to go a few minutes further out to make up for the experience. If you are in the area, I would recommend taking a short drive to Cinco Restaurant in Aguadilla. The food was phenomenal and the service was stellar with our host and server Abisai who...
Read moreREAD THIS REVIEW BEFORE DINING HERE! DONT BE FOOLED BY THE AESTHETIC PICTURES YOU SEE!!! If I could rate this place ZERO STARS, I WOULD! When we first arrived, we were amazed by the stunning views of this restaurant & resort. As we walked into the restaurant on a Friday, we noticed there was plenty of seating available. When the hostess came to sit us, she asked if we made reservations & we said no. She then said she needs a couple of minutes to get a table together to sit us which we thought was weird since the restaurant was pretty empty. We were escorted over to the bar where we ordered some pretty mediocre mojitos (tbh we’ve had better mojitos with ACTUAL fruit & flavoring in smaller bars near Jobos so don’t waste your money on these “aesthetic” looking mojitos). We waiting 45 minutes for a table meanwhile the restaurant was STILL EMPTY. After we were finally escorted to our table, we noticed 5 CATS JUST LOUNGING AROUND THE DINING AREA. We understand that this is an island & there will be animals but it is extremely disgusting, off putting and unsanitary to have the cats roaming around the bar, the pizza area, and dining area. They should shoo the cats away from customers. As soon as our food arrived to the table, the cats went INSANE! They were running under our table & jumping on the sides of the our table begging for food! I couldn’t even enjoy my meal without having a cat trying to claw at me & attempting to even get on my table to grab my food. We asked the waitress if we can move to a different table & even though we moved , the cats STILL followed us and became even more aggressive begging for food. Now let’s get started on the HORRENDOUS & FLAVORLESS FOOD: we ordered a margherita pizza & “authentic” arroz con pollo. The pizza was nothing out of this world - it was edible but nothing memorable. Next, there was nothing “authentic” about the arroz con pollo. They literally gave me overcooked rice that tasted like sewer water & a literal over-fried flavorless drumstick for $33! I was appalled by my meals and truthfully so underwhelmed by this place. Don’t dine here unless you want cats harassing you for food, the smell of cat piss everywhere, overpriced fake mojitos & slow customer service even when the restaurant is empty. I would never come here again or even recommend this place to anyone I know. Honestly SO...
Read moreWe are just finishing up what was meant to be a lovely meal with our family who traveled here for the first time from London.
We had heard about this restaurant’s “award winning pizza”, and we had ordered several to our table for appetizers, and for their child, since he’s a picky eater. We were told they were out of pizza dough so we had to find alternatives. The pizza chef never left the outdoor wood fired oven, he was cranking out pizzas till we left, nonetheless we ordered something else.
The food came out all except for the salad, which came out briefly after reminding them, though it appeared to be an afterthought. The “Eclipse Caesar Salad” was literally just dry Romain lettuce and exactly 5 croutons, when on the menu it said it came with Anchovies, cheese, and cilantro. It was just a plate of lettuce with barely even any dressing. We requested more dressing and some cheese.
The wrap that we ordered was burned, leaving us to peel off one whole side of it that was inedible. We did not mention anything.
The service in general was pretty poor, the server displayed a clear attitude of disdain after our requests, even though he tried to hide it.
We were also told that even though we had made reservations, we could only be seated by the kitchen doors but that after a table by the beach side clears up, we could move. Then when we asked to move after several tables had opened up, they said that those tables were reserved for guests with reservations. Even though we paid $80 yo reserve our table, just like the other guests.
This is all very sad, as our whole intention of eating here was to scope out the venue to see if we would have our wedding here, as we are recently engaged and were very excited at the potential.
Suffice it to say we will NOT be having our wedding here, nor will we return to this place again.
In summary:
Extremely low quality food. Way over priced. Bad...
