Normally I am a big fan of Babe’s, as I literally have been going there for as long as I can remember and have known the former owners and founders and the standards they held. Food wise tastes about the same as it always has and has been a family favorite of ours. Something about a good old hamburger and fries that’s not exactly “fast food” but has its own distinctness.
I went in there on this past Thursday October 17th and had a first for me. One of the younger ladies that was working the register and taking orders looked at me and my family as we walked in and her face definitely said what she was thinking and it was not a family friendly thought. As she felt the need to see 2 adults and several kids and open up with, “oh is this ALL on one ticket? You need to move in.” Sorry I have a family of 8 and the walkway is not the largest. I came in last and was in the doorway still when she started commenting. It was highly unprofessional and disrespectful. She continued with the attitude while I ordered. Again I have been going to Babe’s as long as I can remember and know most of the ordering and how it’s written out. She continued to cut me off as I ordered because it wasn’t how she wanted or the fact that I was making her work. She could easily be seen mouthing off after I finished and just having a bad demeanor and not seeming like she cared about being there or the people she was supposed to be serving. This restaurant has a lot of sentimental value and memories which is the only reason we stayed despite her attitude. Thankfully around the time our food was done she disappeared into the back and wasn’t seen for quite a while.
Everyone else that was working that night seemed to have better attitudes and the cooks came out to help in the front when there were more people that needed help with either orders or refills while the other workers were busy.
Overall the visit was decent but as this review shows, 1 person can ruin the whole experience and bring down the environment. Ultimately we will try again but with lower expectations, hopefully we will see better results and the attitude of the workers will improve to how...
Read moreMy husband and i have been coming to babes on N. Main, Joplin for years, we have noticed the service and food quality has been slipping. Usually part of your meal is cold, whether it be the burger or the fries/onion rings. The customer service is non existant. Today we placed our order and as always pay, get our drinks and sit down, however, today with 3 waitresses, and i use that term loosely, my husband waited patiently for our drinks and 3 times was asked what he needed and even though the drinks were sitting on the machine already dispensed, not one person could take the time to put the lids on and hand them to him. I approached the counter and asked if we could have them and even though the girl looked straight at them, told me i would have to wait our turn. Now we were the second couple to order, the first had their drinks, but for what ever reason she did not want to serve us. Now if your drink policy has been changed where no one gets their drink until their order is up, just say so, don't stand there ignoring your customers. Even after a fourth waitress came on, things were no different. Finally i told the person i would not be leaving the counter without our drinks and low and behold she made me wait another couple of minutes, then handed me the drinks. Our food order was not up to par either. The onion rings were cold and needed to be made over. Not sure if they just stuck them back in the fryer, but they were nasty. We will be going to Iggy's in Carthage...
Read moreI went to babe's often with my family when I was younger. I thought it would be fun to take my kids now that I'm a mom. We went last night and were immediately met by a worker with the worst attitude. Since my children had never been before it took us a few minutes to look at the menu and decide what they wanted. The whole time the worker was staring us down and acting all huffy-puffy. When we were ready to order, she asked us what we wanted, and had an I don't care attitude the whole time. I honestly don't think I've ever had worse customer service. My kids felt extremely uncomfortable and unwelcomed which ruined the experience. It didn't take too long to get our food which was your basic diner food, but it wasn't bad. We also ordered shakes to-go before we left and they were amazing. The ladies making them were also polite. Overall I definitely feel like the customer service with all employees could be much better. The worker that took our order was by far the worst though. She was training a new hire, but the diner wasn't overly busy or anything. We will more than likely go back and try again, but I really hope the experience will be...
