I found my new fav pizza place! Listen, leading researchers* say ranking pizza is about 75% opinion-based (and you know what they say about opinions), but there are some quantifiable measures we can use for the other 25%. Price, quality of ingredients, delivery time multiplied by level of delivery warmth, and…well I’m sure there are other variables. But for me it’s taste, and Decheco’s does not disappoint.
I’m from Canton, but I was at my sister’s in Akron last night and we decided to DoorDash pizza for dinner. Everyone else was either drunk, baked, or too distracted to order food, so I was left in charge. Not knowing the area, I opened DoorDash and Decheco’s popped up. Yeah, at the time it seems kind of expensive. But we were all hungry and needed some food before the drinking got out of hand (you know what I’m talking about). So we (me really, I took it upon myself) decided to order from them. We got two pizzas. One white veggie and one pepperoni. Oh yeah…plus an order of Jo Jo’s.
The pizzas were hot, the cheese was gooey, and the red sauce had a pleasant sweetness to it. But the thing I liked the most was the white sauce. It’s wasn’t too garlicky (I know it’s not PC to admit that it’s possible to have too much garlic, but IMHO it is), it wasn’t too runny, and it didn’t taste like ricotta cheese (I’m just saying…some people love ricotta cheese on pizza—just not me).
I have to say I was skeptical about the claims of “voted Akron’s best pizza.” Everyone claims that. And I know what you’re thinking. We were drinking and that can really cloud your judgement, especially when it comes to pizza. After all, the best pizza correlates with how drunk you are (it’s been scientifically proven*—do your research), so I was pleasantly surprised when I pulled the leftovers out of the fridge for breakfast the next morning (the ultimate test). It was still the best pizza I’ve ever had even cold!
I understand you may be partial to NYC style pizza. Me too. I love a slice served off a greasy paper plate. Who doesn’t? But Ohio, and the Akron area specifically, has its own style (maybe we can get #akronstylepizza trending?) and Decheco’s nailed it.
The only test I still need to run is the second order test. Does it hold up a second time? I guess I’ll figure out (and soon). But here’s what I will say…I’m willing to drive from Canton to Akron to pick it up. It’s that good.

Read moreI imagine most people have their favorite or go to pizza and I am no different. Unfortunately being a Clevelander it isn't very convenient for me to get my favorite pizza which is in Cleveland being that I live in Akron now. If you look up any typical search in Akron for best pizza de Checo's Pops up somewhere in the list. I know a couple of other folks you're in Akron that also love pizza and they Also gave honorable mention to Decheco's. I Head several different pizzas from locations around the area In which one or two Stands out and the rest are Good too above average; Anyway, I decided one evening on the way home to try these folks' pizza. No I have to say that it was the day before the holiday and an hour Before they closed but I ordered just a pepperoni and sausage pizza in which The service was Good but when I got home I wasn't very happy with the pizza Couple of different reason I Here as at this point it's not necessary. I did The need to leave a review because I was extremely disappointed Which to my surprise was met by very thoughtful response from the owner as well as a gesture for an amount off of my next purchase. I found that to be very respectable and given that there's nothing but good reviews and my lousy timing I decided to give it a go again. I even went back to the same shop that I got my first pie from And I have Extremely pleased that I did so. I can't yet say that I have a new favorite but I will say at this point I will be back as everything about your establishment from the way you handled a disappointed First time, pizza loving, customer On through follow up order which I have to say was fantastic. The pizza was cooked to perfection the toppings were on point & the ingredients are of quality origin. I Just want to say thank you once again to the owner and thank you to the folks in your S. Main St. store for doing a great job. Certainly have mastered your craft. I will surely be back and I will let others know What a great experience I had.Thanks...
Read moreI usually have a decent experience here but the time before last they messed our whole order up and it was too late to complain so I let it go. I don't normally complain as I know and understand things happen and don't really wanna cause issues. However, tonight we ordered out for family night and pizza.. 1I ate one piece my significant other ate 2pc then another person was starting to eat 2 slices before the first piece could be finished there was a longgggg hair not just on the slice but baked into the crust. Now we wasn't gonna make a big deal just let them know what happened and see what they'd do as most know once you find a hair in your food it may turn your belly and or completely ruin your appetite.. so my significant other goes to show them they weren't only rude, ignorant, and had the worst disgusting attitude but laughed in his face called the manager and said we ate half the pizza we couldn't get a refund as I said before 3 pieces were ate out of a large. And the way the employees acted was beyond disbelief. They were acting very inappropriate and straight ignorant!!! Not business like whatsoever! The fact people can work in a place like this and be allowed to just treat repetitive paying customers this way is sickening and we will not be back and we will be going higher up!!! I have eaten here for quite a some time now and will not be any longer! The only reason they were given 1 star is because I had to in order to write this review. I hope others have a better experience than I have had the past 2x at this Firestone park location a good family favorite quickly by employees has changed...
