If you're someone who loves southern, down-home comfort food then Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken is the place for you! They're serving up tasty and authentic soul food with flavor in every bite! The service was friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was okay. There was black mold and rotting celling panels from a leaky roof but that was away from the where we were seated. It also was very cold inside and it was only 70 degrees outside. Other than that I'd say this is definitely a place to try out if you're in the area or passing by on the highway, just probably get it to go haha. Overall I would try them again!
My wife and I got the 2 and 3 piece mixed chicken meals with Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, collard greens, red beans and rice, hush puppies and corn bread muffins. We also got sweet tea for drinks.
To start, the chicken was cooked fresh to order and came to the table nice and hot. The chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked with a nice flavorful breading/skin that is thicker than most other fried chicken places so it has lots of crunch when you eat it.
Now for the sides, from best to worst. The red beans and rice was good and had bits of meat and vegetables in it. It reminded me more of a jambalaya than red beans and rice but was still good. The collard greens were nice and tender and also had bits of meat in with it. Some places add too much acidity to their greens but not these, they were juicy and soaked with flavor! Their Mac and cheese was nice as it was creamy and cheesy. Not watery by any means and the noodles were tender and almost melt in your mouth. Lastly, the mashed potatoes and gravy. You can tell that the potatoes are just instant potatoes and not homemade and I can't tell if the gravy was made in house but together they had flavor but were the least favorite of all the sides.
The hush puppies are a little bigger than a quarter each and taste just how hush puppies should taste, I really enjoyed them. The cornbread muffins were also good but I wish they were warm when they got to the table because they were cold to the touch. Some butter served with them would have also been nice.
They have sauces that you can add with your food and I asked for hot sauce and it really kicks up the heat with your chicken but I was disappointed to find that they had generic brand hot sauce and not Louisiana Hot Sauce. If you're serving Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken then you GOTTA have Louisiana hot sauce too.
I do like when places make their own sweet tea but this is not one of those places. I asked the server and she said they don't make it in house and get it in a bag from some place she didn't know the name of. Folks, it's not that hard to make some sweet tea yourselves and is probably cheaper for the business. Do it right and make it yourselves. The flavor will pay off because I can tell when I'm drinking brisk compared to homemade sweet tea.
Overall, considering their name, they came through with their chicken and sides and the flavor did not disappoint. They have a few stickers on the wall that say "all about the flavor" and they stay true to that motto. If they just did a bit more with fixing up the place and didn't cut corners on some of their food and drinks this would definitely be a 5 star place but I'd still say this is a place to try out and I would come back for some Togo goodies. Thanks again y'all!

Read moreI went to Louisiana FFC this past Wednesday afternoon for a takeout order of a 10-piece chicken bucket and a 1 lb order of gizzards. When I walked in I was greeted by a very friendly cashier and my order was quickly taken. I then sat and waited for about 15 minutes until my order was prepared. As I was sitting I looked around and the restaurant appeared to be kept in good order and cleaned regularly. In addition, every single employee I met was very friendly and gave a smile or a friendly hello. Both the cleanliness and customer service were 5-star.
I was then given my chicken and it smelled amazing and I couldn't wait to dig in. I did try the gizzards first and they looked extremely appetizing with a really light and crispy batter; however, they were inedible. . Even though the crispy coating was light and delicious the gizzards were tough and chewy and very unappetizing. So the gizzards get 1-star. They should pressure cook the gizzards or do something to tenderize them more. Unfortunately, I shared some of the gizzards with my son before I had tried any and it was his first time trying them so he'll probably never try them again. Very disappointing.
The ten piece chicken bucket was a different story. The batter was light and crispy and not greasy in the least. Also, I could tell the chicken was fresh and the pieces were large. For instance if you sat a Louisiana FFC wing next to a KFC wing there wouldn't even be a comparison. 5-star chicken. The batter is spicy, keep that in mind if you don't like spicy food.
To summarize:
Customer service = 5 Cleanliness = 5 Gizzards =...
Read moreVisited 21MAY2022 - Is it bad that the sides were better than the chicken, particularly when the name of the restaurant is called Louisiana Famous Chicken and the sides were average at best? I ordered the 3-piece combo, plus an extra side. The cashier was cordial. Another worker seemed bothered. A third worker was more interested in dealing with his car trouble which seemed to be what was bothering the other worker. The dine-in area wasn't very welcoming so I took my order to go. The chicken was a bit overcooked and may have been sitting under the warmer too long. I didn't taste much seasoning either. I was impressed with the size of the chicken pieces but I expected better flavoring other than from the hot sauce packets that came with my other. The collard greens were OK. I couldn't quite determine the seasoning other than black pepper, but I tasted something else there. I've had collard greens at various restaurants across the US. These collard greens were average. My other side dish was red beans & rice. The most prominent flavor I tasted was salt. Not much effort seemed to go into this side dish. I was visiting the area from another state and probably won't be visiting the area anytime soon. If I do visit the area I won't...
