Our family was passing through Akron and we chose this establishment given the good reviews. Our waitress was not helpful at all. We were teaching our girls how to ask questions about the menu and the waitress was not interested in helping explain the menu to any of us. She gave us extended time to “figure things out.”
The waitress spent most of her time tending to the other patrons when we obviously needed assistance with the menu. Whenever she left us (at 3 least times) she was gone for no less than 15 minutes. When she returned she seemed anxious to get back to whatever she was doing. I told her that it might not have taken us so long to put together an order if she hadn’t been so eager to leave. After she took our order it took forever for her to return.
In any case, most of our food arrived cold. It took her an extended amount of time for the waitress to check in to see how things were going after leaving our food with us. My daughter ordered the lobster bisque. It was cold, flavorless, and short on lobster. She attempted to add mashed potatoes to her soup to improve it but still felt uncomfortable eating it. My daughter said the mashed potatoes were warmer than her soup.
When the waitress arrived she indicated that she was not comfortable removing the bisque from our check even though none of it was eaten. She felt that we waited too long to let her know it wasn’t working out and didn’t feel that the mashed potatoes should have been added to the soup. I was charged fifty cents for extra salad dressing that I never received. The waitress never returned with it.
We overheard her discussing our situation with the other waitresses. After that, everyone looked at us disparagingly as they passed our table (at least it felt that way). I left my family at the table because I thought I had to pay at the bar. When the waitress saw me walking towards the door she seemed to appear immediately. She must have thought we were going to dine and dash. In case you’re wondering, they don’t accept Apple Pay.
For two kids and two adults, the tab before the soup was removed was $90. We ordered chicken tenders, the almonds crusted chicken, and three sodas. Way over priced for three plates of cold food and terrible service. All that being said, the candied pecan salad was pretty good though (the raspberry dressing was divine). The restaurant had these beautiful flocked Christmas trees. The decorations were so cute and rustic!
When we were finally able to settle our tab, we explained to her that we were just passing through Akron on our way towards Erie and had no intention to return. She seemed satisfied. I left a fifteen percent tip even though our experience was subpar.
We felt like we might be in a “sundown” area of town. There were no other people of color in the entire restaurant except someone in the kitchen who seemed to be leaving...
Read moreI love Ido but there is an issue with raising prices that are getting higher and higher yet the food quality changes. The short ribs were taken off the menu and in it's place they put Beef chuck roast for the same price as the short ribs but they are not the same quality. The chuck roast was extremely dry and chewy the last time I had it. The short ribs were always cooked to perfection and just fell apart. I had the lobster ravioli last night and the price on the menu in the restaurant went up I believe it was $39.99 and just a note the online menu still says $34.99 so those don't match. Even if they raised the price OK but two of us ordered it. There used to be a big piece of lobster tail across the ravioli along with the chunks of lobster and there was not anymore chucks than usual in the sauce but raising the price and reducing the lobster for me is going to be a no go moving forward. Another item where the online menu does not match the menu in the restaurant is the Friday Wheatly martini special in the restaurant it is no longer on the menu and online on the daily special menu it is still there. The service is always spot on unless they are overwhelmed with patrons and not enough servers but in those cases we are always patient as you can see everyone is working extremely hard. I want to keep going here I just hope the prices don't keep going beyond what is affordable and at least if you raise prices make sure the quality is the same. Also if you go to the hostess stand and stand there the one hostess just looks at you, leaves and wanders around. I usually have to say can we get on the list. If she has to leave to go do something else at least say I will be right back or if you are standing there say how many in your party and name don't just stand there and look at the person like you already helped them...
Read moreI ordered from Ido recently for my parents anniversary using Postmates Delivery Service. After waiting an hour, the order was cancelled. We were bummed that we waited so long but instead I decided to call Ido & see if we could place another order through them. When I called I tried to explain that I had just placed an order on Postmates & that it had been cancelled...immediately the man who answered the phone began to get very hostile with me & told us to stop calling (I guess he had recieved multiple calls that night regarding Postmates) I tried to tell him that this was my FIRST TIME calling & that I just wanted to place another order because this is what my parents wanted to eat. My mom was in the room during this phone call & it quickly turned into a screaming match with my mom not liking the way he was yelling at her teenage daughter. The worker hung up on us. I called back shortly after & tried to re-explain because he never gave us the chance during the call. He told me not to use Postmates to make orders & order directly through Ido. He was much more relaxed the 2nd time but never apologized for his attitude. Idk what exactly the issue is btw them & Postmates. We ultimately decided not to eat here. My advice for the bar is that they practice their patience & customer service skills. No matter WHAT issues they may have had that night they should not have responded the way they did. You never know what type of business you are turning away & how much...
