My wife and I had a day date, which we don't get to do often. Decided to have lunch here because our first choices were too crowded. We walk in and the place was visibly very dirty. Dish baskets overflowing with dirty dishes. Not a good look. The staff were friendly but didn't go out of their way to make the place feel warm or welcome. I did not see a manager anywhere and none of the staff appeared to be older than 16-21 maybe though there were plenty of them. We ordered our food and decided to sit outside. Outside was ALSO very visibly dirty. Again dish baskets overflowing with dirty dishes and old food. While waiting for the food I went inside to grab napkins and condiments. The ketchup and other condiments very dirty and sticky. Drink station very dirty. On my way back out I looked to the kitchen and noticed mounds and MOUNDS of food sitting under the heat lamps. No exaggeration stacks and stacks of chicken, stacks of sausage and bacon, stacks of biscuits and eggs. All of it looked old like it had been sitting there for a while. I thought to myself "that's weird to have that much food to throw out" because there was only one or two couples in the building when we were there. I go back to the table shortly thereafter our food arrives. It's cold. All of it is cold. Barely lukewarm at best. My first thought is "I wonder if some of this was just served to us from all of the visibly old, dying food under the heat lamps?" We finished our food and our day date very disappointed. How could a place so ably staffed be so dirty? With so many people on staff why are there so many dirty dishes overflowing throughout the entire facility? How could so much food be so visibly over prepared to the point that they are presumably serving un-fresh, lukewarm food to the guests? Where is the manager while all of this is going on? I can tell you this: it didn't take long after our visit to realize why the other establishments nearby were crowded and there were only a few people inside this one. Save your time and your money and go...
Read moreThe quick takeaways: good food, slow service, big kinks to still work out. I would stay away until they get more traction.
We visited around 11am a week after their grand opening. We’ve been excited to get a Maple Street after regularly visiting several Tennessee locations. The highlight of our visit was definitely the Squawking Goat biscuit, which was absolutely delicious. The combination of fried chicken, goat cheese, and pepper jelly on a flaky biscuit hit the spot.
However, the overall experience was soured by a few issues. There were about 8 people in line ahead of us when we arrived, but it still took over 20 minutes to get our order placed since there was only one cashier. When it was our turn to order, we were disappointed to find out that the waffle maker was down and they were out of espresso so we couldn’t get any of the waffle dishes nor iced coffee.
Once seated, we noticed them advertising their app for ordering ahead, and since we’d been caught off guard at the register by their waffle maker and espresso issues, we considered supplementing our order from their app to avoid getting back in line. Unfortunately, the online ordering through their own website and app was turned off (which isn’t exactly uncommon for newly-opened restaurants). However, they for some reason were accepting online orders through DoorDash. It just seemed odd to me to have DoorDash turned on for online orders, yet your in-house app turned off.
We ended up waiting for half an hour for our food after placing our order. For a fast-casual restaurant (and compared to other Maple Street experiences), the wait was pretty frustrating.
Overall, while the Squawking Goat dish was a highlight of our visit, the issues with the waffle maker, espresso, online ordering, and wait time left us feeling disappointed. I hope that Maple Street can work out the kinks and find their footing, but if you’re considering giving them a try, I would recommend giving them a couple of months to get things...
Read moreI put in a Togo order when leaving work and when arrived there was a line at the door you were unable to enter due to the amount of ppl . Once I got in to get my order the place was a hot mess customers were walking up, letting the way staff know they have been waiting a really long time and they hadn’t got there food for over an hour and they wanted a refund and everyone just brushed it off and I get it in the service industry sometimes things run behind it happens. At some point you have to stop accepting new customers and focus on the ones sitting there but that’s beside the point. I saw that my food had stuff crossed out so I asked if they could go ahead and refund me since they were apparently out of that item instead, they said will can’t we just substitute you with the chaos happening around me I would rather have just got the refund the person who gave the refund was kind they got it done quickly. They gave me a $10 gift card. Everything was good at that moment I thought so myself let me go ahead and check my bag because something just didn’t feel right. Of course it’s missing more items and it wasn’t bc they were out of them so I politely ask the girl at the counter if I can get the rest of my food, she then throws my order onto her counter, slams another lady’s order around and then says I can guarantee today’s gonna be my last day. Considering I was the only person speaking with her I just didn’t feel like asking for a refund and for the rest of the items that I paid for would’ve been that big of a deal she did too the rest of my items but someone like that doesn’t need to be the only person you can speak to one something is wrong. I feel for the ppl working there they were clearly not able to handle the amount of ppl they had but just didn’t appreciate the response. If the food isn’t in there a simple oh let me fix it would’ve been fine not a whole scene but here your making everyone around you...
