Hometown Donuts — Restaurant in Alameda

I came back to Alameda after 18 years and was surprised to see this shop still here. I came everyday before school for sunflower seeds and donuts. I am 35 and back then, I was 14-17. They weren’t super duper friendly growing up and well that has not changed. At least they’re consistent.

They were not mean or rude but it wasn’t a hi how are you with a smile. I wasn’t getting warm service. Just basic. I felt like I needed to hurry and order.

The 5 star is for longevity. I did get a donut that I brought back to Virginia to my husband and he seemed to enjoy it. I’m happy they’re still there and hope...

I've driven past this place so many times, and I decided to try it out today and my only regret is that I didn't come here sooner! The owner was so nice and there was a good selection of donuts and the biggest croissants I've ever seen in a donut shop, they looked so good, I will definitely get them for breakfast next time. Pricing was great and fair, and the donuts are SO DELICIOUS!! I got the chocolate glaze with sprinkles/cake toppings, mini apple fritter, donut holes and chocolate buttermilk bar (which is now my favorite!!). 10/10, and they serve lunch, so I will also come back for...

I have been going to Hometown Donuts forever. I use to sit down in one of the booths and enjoy a cup of coffee and a donut or two. Since the pandemic, you cannot sit in the booths.
